Letter to the Editor: Let Us Remember the True Meaning of the Second Amendment

2nd Amendment

Dear Tennessee Star,

After Las Vegas, The Second Amendment is again under attack by the Democrats and Liberals.

But why did the framers of the Constitution include the Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights?

It’s been said that to properly understand the Constitution one must place themselves in the environment and frame of mind of those writing the Constitution at the time the Constitution was written.

I agree, a Government of the People and by the People, must also include it’s protection and security by the People.

America was in a war with England at the time the Constitution was being written, a war the People was fighting with their own guns and ammo.

America had no military such as we have today, everything depended on the citizens, their firearms and willingness to fight.

Yes, Every Kid

The framers recognized that without the right to own guns, the people would never be able to win their freedom or maintain their own security from tyranny in the future.

The Framers placed the ultimate responsibility for maintaining America’s way of life not in the hands of Government, Law enforcement or the Military, but in the hands of the people, and just as Law enforcement and the Military needs guns to enforce their will against Criminals and Tyrants.

People need guns for self-protection, not only against Criminals but also people in Government who may wish to become tyrants.

George Washington explained it this way:

A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunitions to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own Government.

When Government takes away citizens right to bear arms, it becomes citizens duty to take away Government right to govern.

Even Mao Tze Tung got it right, Nov 6, 1938:

All political power comes from the barrel of a gun. The communist party must command all the guns. That way, no guns can ever be used to command the party.

The Second Amendment is the most important Right within the Bill of Rights, it is the “Protector” of all other rights.

Here’s what you will never hear on the Radio, Television or from Government, not even the NRA or any other Gun Club I know of,

The Second Amendment authorizes citizens to remove any person attempting to deny them their rights from any position within Government, even if the only means is assassination.

Not only is that a right, it’s also a “Duty” of the people, being responsible for their own Protection, Security and Government.

Guns were designed to do one thing, that is to kill, and having a gun is a right to kill, within the scope of the law, same as Law Enforcement and the Military.

And that Right is not restricted to the area of your home or personal family, but anywhere within our Country, which is our Home.

Could our Constitution and Freedoms survive if we decided to disarm all our Military? Even idiots know the correct answer to that question.

We have people today within the Legislative and Judicial branches of government trying to abuse us of some of our rights and freedoms.

Armed citizens and the threat of being assassinated is the only reason keeping them, and the outside world, from becoming Tyrants over us.

Japan nixed the idea of invading America because of having to fight armed citizens, and America nixed the idea of invading Japan because having to fight their citizens.

Armed citizens are America’s “Reserve Military Force,” not only in the minds of those abroad but here at home as well.

Why should citizens ask Law Enforcement and the Military to put their life in jeopardy to keep freedoms that they would rather surrender than fight to keep?

Andrew Jackson once remarked that, “our liberties would indeed be in trouble if we only employed lawyers to defend the Constitution.”

Guns are just scrap metal in the hands of people without the will to use them.

Abraham Lincoln said, “The people of these United States are the rightful masters of both Congresses and Courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who prevert the Constitution”.

Yes, I know I’m out of step with the thinking of most people today, but I interpret the Constitution in the same “frame of mind” as those who wrote the Constitution.

Sincerely,

Sim D.

Perfect timing for this letter! Without the 2nd and the willingness to use it we are just subjects at the mercy of our government! If we want to honor our Founders and all those that have died in the defense of our country we’ll use it no matter what the feds say!

Well stated Sim D.! My one addition is that it is not just the Democrats or the Liberals, it is equally the “establishment” Republicans who would eliminate the people’s ability to defend themselves from all threats, foreign and domestic! Why else don’t we have Constitutional carry here in Tennessee? The “populist” movement that ultimately put Donoald Trump into office, is an “anti-establishment” movement. We need to keep it going, or all of our God given rights will be stolen, by the establishment politician class!
