Senator Marsha Blackburn Calls on Colleges to Prohibit Pro-Palestine Group from Forming Chapters on Campus

National Students for Justice in Palestine March

Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is calling on colleges across the nation to ban chapters of the pro-Palestine group National Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJP) from forming on campus.

“In the weeks leading up to the wave of college campus protests, student organizers consulted & trained with National Students for Justice in Palestine,” Blackburn wrote in an X post on Saturday.

“This was a coordinated event and NSJP chapters should be banned by colleges,” Blackburn added.

Blackburn’s call for the pro-Palestine group to be barred from having a presence through student chapters on college campuses comes days after a group of victims of the October 7, 2023 Hamas terror attack on Israel filed a federal lawsuit against NSJP and its parent organization, American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), accusing the groups of working in the U.S. “as collaborators and propagandists for Hamas.”

The suit also notes that AMP and NSJP are “merely the current version of several prior entities that were already determined by the U.S. government to be supporters of Hamas.”

Jason Torchinsky, a partner at one of the firms representing the October 7 victims in the federal case, said that “[t]he chaos we are seeing at American colleges and universities has been well planned and organized, and NSJP’s work to support the end goals of Hamas needs to be exposed and stopped.”

On its website, NSJP touts its work supporting over 350 “Palestine solidarity organizations” across the U.S., saying its goal is to “develop a student movement that is connected, disciplined, and equipped with the tools necessary [to] achieve Palestinian liberation.”

Encampments occupying three institutions in Tennessee – University of Tennessee – Knoxville, Vanderbilt University, and University of the South – are among those recognized and supported by NSJP.

I agree with our Senator, to the left, and hear this point naive students, what she is going to curtail (and it will happen) is not a threat to Free Speech, it is a threat to those advocating Hate Speech.

For Jefferson asserted in his autobiography that his original legislative intent had been “to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mahometan [Muslim], the Hindoo, and Infidel of every denomination.”
