Kroger Expected to Bring 140 Jobs to Bradley County with New Facility

The Kroger Company officials announced Monday that the company will construct a new Central Fill facility in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Kroger, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, is one of the world’s largest retailers.

The company’s Central Fill facilities use automated technology to fulfill prescriptions for the company’s health division, called Kroger Health. Kroger’s future Cleveland location will be the company’s fifth U.S. since 2000.

“We appreciate the site selection guidance and collaboration with the State, City of Cleveland, Bradley County and Tennessee Valley Authority on this exciting project. Tennessee offers an ideal combination of business assistance and a skilled labor market to support the growth of Kroger Health,” Kroger Economic Development Director Lisa Daugherty said in a statement.

Kroger Health, according to its website, currently operates nearly 2,200 pharmacies, including 11 specialty pharmacies, and 225 clinics nationwide. The health division employs over 22,000 healthcare professionals – from pharmacists and nurse practitioners to dietitians and technicians – and serves over 17 million patients across over 20 companies.

Once complete, the 50,000-square-foot Cleveland plant will support Kroger’s pharmacies in the southeastern U.S., according to a press release by The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD).

The project is expected to create 140 new jobs in Bradley County, TNECD notes.

“We are proud to collaborate with Kroger again to announce new jobs and investment in Tennessee,” TNECD Commissioner Stuart McWhorter said in a statement. “Cleveland and Bradley County are geographically positioned to enhance Kroger’s distribution network across the Southeast, and we look forward to seeing the success of its newest Central Fill facility”

Kroger’s announcement this week of its Cleveland project comes one year after the company announced the addition of a “spoke” facility in Nashville, which is expected to bring 180 new jobs to Davidson County, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star. That 40,000-square-foot facility will serve the Middle Tennessee region by supporting and facilitating Kroger’s direct-to-customer product delivery.
