Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) confirmed on Monday that suspected murderer Adrian Cameron Jr., the 19-year-old accused of killing rapper Chris King, wore an ankle monitor while out on a $100,000 bond at the time of the King’s death.
A Monday post to the social media platform X by MNPD confirmed Cameron Jr. “was out on bond for the 2021 murder of Josh Evans” and was “on an ankle monitor at the time of the fatal shooting” of the rapper, whose given name was Christopher Cheeks.
Police have additionally said Cameron Jr. (pictured above) remains at large, and his ankle monitoring device has been disabled. Court records indicate his $100,000 bond was originally set by Davidson County Criminal Court Judge Khadija L. Babb.

A spokesman for Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk previously told The Tennessee Star it asked to revoke the suspect’s bond and “approved nationwide extradition” if Cameron Jr. is found outside of Tennessee.
Police have said two more suspects are understood to be part of the shooting, which happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday outside a Nashville music studio, but explained they “ran off in separate directions” after the shooting.
Family members of Evans, the 50-year-old man police say Cameron Jr. killed in 2021, told WKRN that Cameron’s alleged role in the rapper’s death “reopened the whole wound.”
The family, who reportedly asked to remain anonymous due to fear of violent reprisals, said, “Maybe if they would have taken him to court and he would be sentenced to be in jail, this kid would be alive making albums.”
When police attempted to reach the 19-year-old’s father about the 2021 murder, Adrian Cameron Sr. barricaded himself inside a Nashville motel, shot at a SWAT team, and was ultimately killed. WKRN reported in 2021 that the father was “known to possess high-powered guns” that police thought Cameron Jr. might have used to kill Evans.
Cameron Jr. is only the latest suspect accused of committing additional crimes while on bond.
MNPD confirmed last week that Erik Dewaun Williams, who is accused of shooting six outside a Nashville nightclub on April 13, was previously released from jail on a $50,000 bond.
Nashville judicial officials were scrutinized last year after Shaquille Taylor, the 29-year-old accused of killing Belmont University freshman Jillian Ludwig, was determined to have been previously released on a $10,000 bond.
