In the first eight days of early and absentee voting for the general election, a total of 423,220 Tennesseans cast their vote according to data released by the Tennessee Secretary of State’s office.
The number of Tennesseans that voted during the eight day period, according to the data, is broken down by each day. The total vote counts per day were:
- October 19: 59,118 votes
- October 20: 47,568 votes
- October 21: 50,759 votes
- October 22: 20,737 votes
- October 24: 57,217 votes
- October 25: 59,394 votes
- October 26: 63,783 votes
- October 27: 65,170 votes
In 2018, 810,056 Tennesseans cast their vote during the first four days of early and absentee voting, which is a 47.75 percent difference when compared to this year’s data. In 2014, just 268,434 Tennesseans cast their vote during the first four days of early and absentee voting.
For Tennessee voters to cast their ballots, a photo identification is required. Licenses, state IDs, or federal photo identification from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security are acceptable, even if they have expired. A student ID or out-of-state driver’s license, however, is not acceptable, the Secretary of State’s Office notes.
To report voting issues or get answers to early voting and Election Day questions, Tennessee voters can call the Division of Elections’ toll-free Official Election Hotline at 1-877-850-4959.
For those who prefer to text, voters can use the Secretary of State’s new Text to Report Voter Fraud system by texting ‘TN’ to 45995 in order to alert the Division of Elections about possible voter fraud, report voting issues, or let the Division of Elections know about their voting experience.
The deadline for requesting a mail-in ballot in Tennessee is Tuesday, November 1. Early voting runs through Thursday, November 3. Voting day, November 8, is the deadline for mail-in ballots.
The Secretary of State’s Office notes that Tennessee voters can find voting information on the free GoVoteTN app available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, or online at govotetn.gov.
