Tennessee Representative David Kustoff Selected to Serve on Ways and Means Committee

Tennessee Representative David Kustoff (R-TN-08) announced Saturday that he was selected to serve on the Ways and Means Committee.

“I am honored to be on this committee, & I look forward to advancing policies that will get our nation’s economy back on track,” Representative Kustoff wrote on Twitter.

The Ways and Means Committee is the chief tax-writing committee of the United States House of Representatives. It is the oldest committee in Congress and the only committee formed by the United States Constitution.

“The Ways and Means Committee has jurisdiction over issues that affect West Tennesseans every day, including taxes, health care, trade, and family support programs,” Representative Kustoff said in a video accompanying his tweet. “As the only member in Congress for this region on the Ways and Means Committee, West Tennessee is going to have a seat at the table – fighting for lower taxes, holding the IRA accountable, addressing health care, and preserving medicare and social security for our seniors.”

Representative Kustoff also addressed the recent news regarding inflation in our country. On Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that inflation accelerated further in the month of May, with prices rising 8.6 percent from one year ago for the fastest increase since December 1981. Additionally, the department reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) also rose 8.6 percent in May compared to a year ago.

“It’s clear that under President Joe Biden’s reckless economic policies, inflation continues to rise and the American people are suffering – I hear it each and every day from constituents,” Representative Kustoff said. “And the sad thing is, that it was self-inflicted by progressive leftist policies implemented by this administration.”

Isn’t that great. Another big spending RINO on the committee that supposedly budgets spending. Not only did Kustoff vote for the $1.9 trillion spending package, he voted to have a vaccine tracking database and to spend $40 billion more on Ukraine.
