Morning Consult Poll: Trump Up 58 Points over GOP Primary Opponents in Ohio

A new Morning Consult poll released on Monday shows former President Donald Trump leading the 2024 GOP presidential primary field in 26 states, including Ohio.

In the Buckeye State, Trump has a 58-point lead over his closest challenger, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, as the former president is polling at 69 percent compared to the governor’s 11 percent.

Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley polled behind DeSantis at eight percent while businessman Vivek Ramaswamy and former governor of New Jersey Chris Christie polled at six percent and three percent, respectively.

Trump won Ohio in the 2020 presidential election, defeating Joe Biden by 8 points.

Last month, a poll conducted by Emerson College Polling and WJW-TV Fox 8 Cleveland showed Trump with a 12-point lead (50 percent-38 percent) over incumbent President Joe Biden in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup in the Buckeye State at the time.

Last month’s poll also showed Biden holding a 32 percent job approval rating among likely Ohio voters, while 58 percent at the time disapproved of his job in office.

Monday’s poll published by Morning Consult also revealed how many Republican, Democrat, and Independent voters across the nation believe Congress should or should not begin impeachment proceedings to remove Biden from office.

Yes, Every Kid

In total, 44 percent of U.S. voters support impeachment proceedings against Biden while 40 percent do not. A total of 70 percent of Republican voters support impeachment while 62 percent of Democrats and 43 percent of Independents do not.

Meanwhile, a national poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal published over the weekend shows Trump with a 4-point lead (47 percent-43 percent) over Joe Biden in a head-to-head 2024 matchup.

The 2024 Ohio Republican presidential primary will be held on March 19, 2024 – the same day as elections held in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, and Kansas.
