Former President Trump Speaks to Enthusiastic Crowd at Georgia Republican Party Convention, Makes Surprise Visit at Local Waffle House

Former President Donald Trump spoke to an enthusiastic crowd at the Georgia Republican Party 2023 State Convention in his first public speech since his indictment.

Before arriving at the Saturday convention, Trump met with police officers on the tarmac after landing and exiting ‘Trump Force One.”

Trump delivered the keynote address on the second and final day of the convention.

According to Epoch Times reporter Janice Hisle, a large crowd of supporters began lining up outside the convention more than four hours before Trump was set to speak.

The former president opened up his speech by condemning Special Counsel Jack Smith, the Department of Justice, and the FBI for being indicted following the seizure of materials from his Mar-a-Lago estate last August.

Trump joked that every time he “flies over a blue state,” he “gets a subpoena.”

“These criminals cannot be rewarded, they must be defeated, you have to defeat them, you have to defeat them,” Trump added. “Because in the end, they are not coming after me, they‘re coming after you, and I am just standing in their way. Here I am, just standing in their way, and I always will be.”

Trump received standing ovations throughout his speech, including when he vowed to “sign a law prohibiting child sexual mutilation in all 50 states,” if elected in 2024.

Raheem Kassam, editor-in-chief of The National Post, attended the convention and confirmed the strong support for Trump, writing in a social media post, “I’ve been in this huge convention hall in Georgia, walked all around, talked to dozens of people already. They’re all for Trump. Literally zero for any other candidate. I’m told some of the establishment class in the GA GOP are for DeSantis, but I haven’t seen them.”

After speaking at the convention, Trump made a surprise appearance at a local Waffle House, where he interacted with a group of supporters.

“Waffles on Trump,” the former president said while walking into the restaurant.
