Ad Featuring Disruption of Blackburn Rally Shows How Far the Leftist Mob Has Gone

After protestors repeatedly disrupted the rally for U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN-07) Sunday, and even interrupted a moment of silence for victims of the senseless violence in Pittsburgh, it’s clear the Leftist mob has come to Tennessee, the state GOP says. A new digital ad from the Tennessee Republican Party highlights just how far the mob has gone and why it’s important to stand up to their radical and dangerous tactics. The ad, which will run on all digital platforms statewide, is available to watch online here. Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Scott Golden said, “We’ve seen what this election is all about in Tennessee: voters have a choice between the Left’s angry mob and their Democratic enablers, or the Republicans who respect the rule of law and reflect our state’s values. Tennesseans will not be intimidated by mob tactics, and that’s why we’ll see Republican victories across the board in this year’s election.” U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) visited Nashville Sunday to campaign for Blackburn and express disgust over how Democrats treated Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court nomination hearings. Members of the Left disrupted the event. One protester disrupted a moment of silence for victims of Saturday’s mass…

Tennessee Star Report Exclusive Interview: Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas Discusses Mobs and Mid-Terms

On Friday’s Tennessee Star Report with Steve Gill and Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 am to 8:00 am – Gill and Leahy talked with Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas about the final four days before the mid-term elections and whether or not the Republicans will keep control of the Senate.  Cotton expressed that a Democrat win would confirm a reliable vote for a liberal agenda.  He was confident that a vote for Marsha Blackburn would ensure a vote for Tennesseans. Gill:  On our newsmakers line, Senator Tom Cotton, Senator from Arkansas is an Army veteran, after 9/11 he put his professional career on hold to go serve as an infantry officer, served also with the old guard, if you’ve ever been to Arlington, the tomb of the unknown soldier, just an amazing honor to be put in that position.  And Senator good to have you with us and thank you for all you do. Cotton: Thank you, it’s great to be on with you and it was great to be back in Tennessee yesterday and especially back in Clarkesville and Fort Campbell with the Screaming Eagles. Gill: Yeah it’s a little…

Avenatti Launches First Political Ad, Tells People to Join the Fight Club

by Hanna Bogorowski   Michael Avenatti fueled speculation that he’s considering a 2020 presidential run Thursday when he launched the first ad for his political action committee (PAC), “Fight PAC.” Avenatti, the lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels and an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump and Republicans, has made headlines in recent months for his vocal advocacy of Democrats ahead of November’s midterms. The ad, first obtained by Politico, reminds voters that the U.S. Constitution says “We the people” and not “Me the president.” The video, almost a minute and a half long, opens with quick shots of different people saying “We the people,” until one says, “Are mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore.” “Enough with the lies. Enough with the cover ups. Enough with the bigotry. Enough with the misogyny,” those in the ad say, one by one. Avenatti comes into the picture to say “Stand up. Join the fight club.” Real people. Real important.Use your vote as your voice and speak truth to power.Vote! pic.twitter.com/3LEyvCArBQ — Michael Avenatti (@MichaelAvenatti) November 1, 2018 Avenatti has found himself in hot water recently after Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley called on the Justice Department and FBI to investigate the lawyer…

Commentary: When Laws Are Not Enforced, Anarchy Follows

by Victor Davis Hanson   What makes citizens obey the law is not always their sterling character. Instead, fear of punishment—the shame of arrest, fines or imprisonment—more often makes us comply with laws. Law enforcement is not just a way to deal with individual violators but also a way to remind society at large that there can be no civilization without legality. Or, as 17th-century British statesman George Savile famously put it: “Men are not hanged for stealing horses, but that horses may not be stolen.” In the modern world, we call such prompt, uniform and guaranteed law enforcement deterrence, from the Latin verb meaning to frighten away. One protester who disrupts a speech is not the problem. But if unpunished, he green-lights hundreds more like him. Worse still, when one law is left unenforced, then all sorts of other laws are weakened. The result of hundreds of sanctuary cities is not just to forbid full immigration enforcement in particular jurisdictions. They also signal that U.S. immigration law, and other laws by extension, can be ignored. The presence of an estimated 12 million or more foreign nationals unlawfully living in the United States without legal consequence sends a similar message.…

Oregon Authorities Released Illegal Alien Despite ICE Detainer – 7 Months Later, He Allegedly Killed His Wife

by Will Racke   The Oregon man who allegedly killed his wife in late October is an illegal alien who was released from county jail seven months ago, despite an active detention request from immigration authorities, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned. Martin Gallo-Gallardo, 45, is charged with murder in the death of Coral Rodriguez-Lorenzo, 38, whose body was discovered Oct. 28 in Clackamas County, Oregon. The following day, detectives brought in Gallo-Gallardo for questioning, during which he confessed to killing Rodriguez-Lorenzo, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. Immigration authorities first discovered that Gallo-Gallardo, a Mexican national, was living in the U.S. illegally in March, when he was arrested in Multnomah County, Oregon on felony domestic violence charges. Following the arrest, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a civil immigration detainer on Gallo-Gallardo with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, but he was freed on bail after two days in jail. ICE confirmed Gallo-Gallardo’s immigration status and arrest history in a statement to Salem, Oregon-based crime researcher David Olen Cross, who shared it Thursday with TheDCNF. Martin Gallo-Gallardo is a citizen of Mexico who unlawfully entered the United States. ICE placed an immigration detainer on Gallo Gallardo on March 6,…

Music Spotlight: Stephanie Owens Talks Family, Faith, and Country Music

Nashville, TN — Stephanie Owens grew up in a musical family. Her dad was a high school choral director and her mom was a classical organist. She knew from a young age that performing was what she born to do. “I had an old turkey-baster for a microphone and ran around the couch for my stage,” she said. When Stephanie was 19 years old  and attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, she gained experience in front of the camera and in the studio. She made her film debut when she was chosen to play the starring role of Faith Garrett in Finding Faith the movie, co-starring Erik Estrada. The movie was released nationally in 2014 on Netflix and at Wal-Mart and other retailers. The movie soundtrack includes Stephanie singing a featured song and a lullaby which she composed for the film. (Read more here.) Even though she is a talented actress, she always knew she wanted to pursue the singing route more because “you can be more you as opposed to being a character.” Because there is definitely a spiritual element to her songs, I wondered why she chose to pursue country music as opposed to Christian music. Stephanie stated that she…

Promoting Adoption, Trump Affirms Human Life for ‘Born and Unborn’

by Fred Lucas   President Donald Trump called Thursday for helping children in need—both born and unborn—by supporting adoption. “Adoption affirms the inherent value of human life and signals that every child—born or unborn—is wanted and loved,” Trump said in a statement, released Wednesday by the White House, proclaiming November as National Adoption Month. “Children, regardless of race, sex, age, or disability deserve a loving embrace into families they can call their own. “This month, we honor the thousands of American families who have grown because of adoption,” the president continued. “We also stand with those children in foster care, and we appeal to families, communities, and houses of worship across our great nation to help these children find a permanent home.” Trump also offered praise to parents willing to put their children up for adoption to have a better life. “My administration also acknowledges the courage of those mothers and fathers who place their child for adoption,” he said. “Our nation grows stronger because of the love and sacrifice of parents, both birth and adoptive.” Trump, who has promoted pro-life policies since becoming president, didn’t directly address abortion. However, he seemed to allude to adoption as a better choice…

Commentary: Here’s Why Trump’s Constant Criticism of the Media Resonates With Americans

Donald Trump

by Jarrett Stepman   Americans aren’t fans of their media. A recent poll shows that while many Americans find President Donald Trump divisive, even more find the media to be divisive. A Politico/Morning Consult poll showed that 56 percent of Americans think Trump has done more to divide the country, while 64 percent of Americans think the media has done more. Only 17 percent of respondents said that they thought the national media has done more to unite the country. There were sharp partisan divisions over whether Trump has worked to unite or divide the country, but Americans across the political spectrum gave the media low marks. Reinforcing this poll about the media is another survey by Media Research Center, a conservative media watchdog, that says media coverage of Trump and Republicans has been overwhelmingly negative and partisan. The study found that 92 percent of the broadcast network coverage of Trump was negative, compared to only 8 percent being positive. While much of the division in America may be natural and intractable, it is telling that the media, which has been so strongly negative toward the president, is being blamed even more for heightening conflict in this country. If anything,…

Republicans See Boost From Migrant Caravan Before Midterm Elections – While Democrats Continue to Avoid the Issue

by Henry Rodgers   Republicans believe their opposition to the migrant caravan filled with thousands of illegal immigrants who are approaching the U.S. border will help energize their base before the Nov. 6 midterm elections, while many Democrats have continued to remain silent on the issue. The caravan, which was roughly 2,000 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border near Tijuana and about 800 miles from the southern tip of Texas as of Thursday, has been a key issue for Republicans less than one week out from the midterm elections, as GOP candidates have been hammering their Democratic opponents for not mentioning the potential threat to the U.S. The Republican National Committee (RNC) and Republican strategists have all echoed similar messages, saying the migrant caravan would indeed help the GOP before the midterm elections — many saying it reminds voters that Democrats are putting U.S. citizens in danger. They also mentioned how the silence from Democrats on the issue will end up helping Republicans, who have so vocally denounced the caravan entering the country. “From their open border policies to their calls to abolish ICE, the caravan is yet another reminder to voters that Democrats have put the sovereignty of our country in…

OFF THE RECORD: Will Sheila Butt Be Governor Bill Lee’s Pick for Agriculture Commissioner?

While Election Day remains a few days off that hasn’t tamped down speculation about who front-runner candidate for Governor and “conservative outsider” Bill Lee may tap to serve in key positions in his Cabinet should he win, as expected, on Tuesday. While Team Lee dismisses any talk that they are prematurely “measuring the drapes” that hasn’t slowed the gossip mill about who might be a part of his team once the election is over. (At The Tennessee Star we don’t pass along every rumor in stories labeled “OFF THE RECORD,” just the ones we can substantiate). Rep. Shelia Butt from Columbia, like Sen. Janice Bowling, was one of Lee’s earliest legislative supporters.  Bowling is considered a strong possibility to fill a key position in the Lee Administration. The same is true of Butt, who is apparently under consideration for selection as Commissioner of Agriculture.  Butt announced late last year that she was not planning to seek reelection, but few believe her time in public service is over. Early selection of a few staunch conservatives like Bowling and Butt could help Lee overcome the impression that his Administration will simply continue the moderate path that Governor Bill Haslam charted the past…

Founder of #WalkAway Campaign Hopes to Make it a Roadshow

by Rachel del Guidice   The founder of the #WalkAway Campaign, a movement showcasing stories of why Americans walk away from leftist ideology and the Democratic Party, says he is pleased with an organized march last weekend in the nation’s capital and plans to take the idea on the road. “I thought it was spectacular. I am so proud of the entire weekend from beginning to end,” Brandon Straka said in an interview with The Daily Signal. “I have very high expectations, which is why I usually feel let down all the time, but it was one of the rare moments in life where you have the highest possible hopes and expectations and it goes so far beyond,” Straka said. Straka, 41, a former liberal who voted for Hillary Clinton in the past but now calls himself a gay conservative, said he estimates that 3,000 to 3,500 attended. The #WalkAway events started Oct. 26 with a gala dinner at Trump International Hotel, a march Oct. 27 from John Marshall Park to Freedom Plaza, and a closing brunch Oct. 28. “Everybody was really energetic and participating, despite the fact that the weather sucked and it was cold,” Straka said, adding: I…

Phil Bredesen Twists Like a Pretzel in Discussing Illegal Army of Migrants With Confirmed Criminals

Phil Bredesen recently doubled down on his defense of the caravan marching toward the southern border. He told MSNBC it is “beyond belief” that anyone would see the migrant caravan as “some sort of threat.” WATCH: TN Senate candidate @PhilBredesen says it is "beyond belief" that anyone would see the migrant caravan as "some sort of threat" to the US. More from our exclusive interview on Sunday, @MSNBC 7-9pm. pic.twitter.com/KnmqKCH44I — Way Too Early with Jonathan Lemire (@WayTooEarly) November 2, 2018 After the Bredesen team dashed off an emergency op-ed to The Tennessean – which tried to walk back everything Bredesen said in one video – his team realized it wasn’t enough, and rolled out a new ad talking about how the man who called the wall “political theater” and said the migrant caravan was “not a threat” was tough on the border, the Tennessee Republican Party said in a press release. Earlier this week, Bredesen said the illegal criminal migrant army is “more of a Washington issue,” The Tennessee Star reported. “Must be a day of the week that ends in ‘y,’” the Tennessee Republican Party said. To mark the occasion, the Tennessee Republican Party launched a new ad regarding…
