  Democrats’ insistence on an impeaching President Donald Trump are “endless fishing expeditions,” U.S. Rep. Dr. Mark Green (R-TN-07) says. On his Facebook page Thursday, Green said, “President Donald J. Trump released the transcript of his call so every American can see there is no evidence of wrongdoing. The Department of Justice reviewed this “whistleblower” complaint and found no reason to take action.” He also tweeted, “The American people put us in Congress to do their work. Mark Green’s New Intelligence Enterprise Act Passes House

  U.S. Rep. Mark Green, a Republican representing Tennessee’s Seventh Congressional District, announced Thursday that his Unifying DHS Intelligence Enterprise Act, passed the House of Representatives. According to a press release from Green’s office, the bill directs the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to establish a homeland intelligence doctrine, synchronizing intelligence sharing and improving coordination across the department. “During my time as an Army special operations flight surgeon, I learned the value of streamlined intelligence on a mission. I am proud to sponsor this legislation unifying the Department of Homeland Security’s intelligence apparatus and enabling the Department to better carry out its mission to keep America safe.,” the press release quoted Green as saying. “At a time of heightened threats to our security at home and abroad, we must equip the men and women of DHS to easily and effectively do their jobs as they stand on the frontlines protecting our country, patrolling our border, and enforcing our laws.” As The Tennessee Star reported last month, Green is also co-sponsoring legislation to protect U.S. technology from Chinese espionage.   U.S. Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee said Thursday that Democrats risk angering a lot of Americans if they move forward with an impeachment inquiry into U.S. Republican President Donald Trump. Blackburn said as much during a scheduled phone call with reporters from around the state. “This announcement (of the impeachment inquiry) was really the culmination of what has been a three-year push for them, and I think if you look at all the polling if they move forward with it they are going to do this at their own risk of alienating a lot of Americans,” Blackburn said. “Based on the transcript that was released yesterday it seems that the House Democrats might have jumped the gun on this one. The bottom line is if we see a big impeachment investigation starting in the House and it gets to the Senate (then) the Democrats are not going to have the votes from Republicans to do a conviction.   Members of Tennessee’s Congressional delegation were quick to opine Tuesday on Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s impeachment inquiry of U.S. Republican President Donald Trump. Democrats endorsed the impeachment inquiry, while Republicans vowed to support the president. Scott DesJarlais, a Republican representing Tennessee’s Fourth Congressional District, sent out a press release Tuesday saying this is not what the American people want. “Before and after last year’s midterm elections, a few of us predicted Democrat leadership would fall prey to their most strident members and move to impeach President Trump.  Sadly, having accomplished nothing but fruitless investigations in this Congress, Speaker Pelosi has allowed this radical element to dictate another partisan investigation,” DesJarlais said. “An overwhelming majority of the American public rejects impeachment. However, some individuals, who still cannot accept that their candidate lost the 2016 presidential election, are pursuing a purely political agenda. Williamson County Parents Can Review Curriculum for Left-Wing Bias

  FRANKLIN — Parents of students in the Williamson County School System who worry that school officials politicize their child’s social studies curriculum have a right to view the material if they wish. The Tennessee Star reviewed a portion of the school system’s social studies curriculum Tuesday, with the caveat that we had to do it at the school system’s main office in Franklin and with school staff monitoring us. We also could not take screenshots of the curriculum, which is online. But if it is online then why could we not simply review the material on our own from a location of our choosing? Could WCS officials cite a specific state statute or statutory authority to explain that? When asked, WCS spokeswoman Carol Birdsong did not cite any statute or statutory authority. But Birdsong did say the following in an emailed statement: “The information that you saw today is part of the social studies OER which contains the materials designed for teachers to access and utilize in their classrooms.
