Green: Senate Democrats Refuse to Send the Ukraine the Military Aid They Accuse Trump of Holding Up

U.S. Rep. Dr. Mark Green (R-TN-07) pointed out a huge irony in the Democrats’ impeachment effort against President Donald Trump over Ukraine and military aid.

Green tweeted, “It’s shocking that Democrats are impeaching the President over withholding aid from Ukraine, when they just voted in the Senate to withhold aid from Ukraine by blocking the spending bill.”

Green cited Defense News, which reported that the Senate Thursday did not advance a defense spending bill. The dispute was over Trump’s use of military money to fund the border wall. The vote was 51-41; 60 votes were required.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) accused the Democrats of being too busy trying to impeach the president to fund the military.

Green voted “No” Thursday on the House’s resolution to formalize the impeachment process, The Tennessee Star reported.

House Democrats, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA-12), passed a resolution on Halloween morning that formalizes the procedure for going forward with an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, The Star said.

On Friday’s Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 am to 8:00 am – Michael Patrick Leahy spoke to Green.

The transcript is available here.

During the show, Rep. Green described how the current ‘impeachment inquiry’ has being completely decided upon by Nancy Pelosi and characterized the move as ‘tyrannical.’ He continued the discussion by explaining how the testimonies by witnesses were being selected and leaked to the New York Times in order to support a narrative in favor of the Democrats’ agenda.

Green also tweeted, “@RepAdamSchiff is once again manipulating the public and selectively releasing some transcripts while concealing others—only more proof of his total dishonesty and the need for him to be removed!”

Which republicans in the senate voted against it

It’s not necessarily the case that any Republicans voted against it. There were only 92 votes cast, so some Republicans may have been among the 8 MIAs.
