Jim Jordan Wins Americans for Limited Government’s 2019 Congress Man of the Year Award

Americans for Limited Government (ALG) awarded Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) Congressman of the Year for 2019.

“U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan has proven himself to be one of the premiere freedom fighters in Congress, consistently standing for free enterprise and the rule of law,” the ALG press release said. “Jordan has particularly distinguished himself in his ongoing and heroic defense of President Donald Trump against the false and slanderous attacks of Adam Schiff at the behest of some within the intelligence community.”

“It takes extraordinary strength and courage to stand firm against the unrelenting torrent of criticism in the swamp,” ALG concluded. “Jordan has been exemplary throughout his career for his fearless support of limited government principles culminating with his aggressive take down of Nancy Pelosi’s impeachment team.”

During the impeachment hearings, the Ohio representative was temporarily appointed to the Intelligence Committee. Throughout the process, Jordan acted as one of the best Republicans in breaking down impeachment witnesses and sparring with House Democrats.

Jordan’s most infamous moments from the impeachment hearings came when questioning former Ukraine ambassador Bill Taylor on his “clear understanding” about the Ukrainian foreign aid situation and clashing with House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA-28).

Being one of the president’s closest allies and a thorn in Democrats side, helped Jordan rake in campaign fundraising money. As The Ohio Star previously reported, he raised $1.4 million in the final quarter of 2019 after his performance in the impeachment hearings.

Earlier this month, Republicans awarded Jordan the party’s ranking member posistion on the highly coveted House Judiciary Committee. He is taking the spot of Georgia Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA-09) who is running for Senate.

“@RepDougCollins has provided steadfast leadership and service to the Judiciary Committee,” Jordan tweeted. “It’s an honor that @GOPLeader and our colleagues on the Steering Committee have given me the chance to help lead @JudiciaryGOP.”
