Joe Carr, a conservative leader in Rutherford County, on Thursday endorsed Dr. Manny Sethi in his U.S. Senate race and said he will host the physician as well as U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) at a cookout on July 18.
Sethi posted Carr’s endorsement on his Facebook page here.
“I want a fighter. Dr. Manny stands firm in defending our conservative values, and he will not waver in the Senate. We need to send a conservative fighter to the Washington swamp, and that’s why I support Dr. Manny.” – Joe Carr
The cookout is called T-Bones and Politics, and Paul will be the featured speaker. The event page is here.
The cookout will be held in the rural Lascassas community of Rutherford County.
Carr is a former state representative and lives on a 90-acre farm, according to his political Facebook page. Carr ran unsuccessfully against Murfreesboro pharmacist Shane Reeves in a special primary election in January 2018 for the 14th State Senate District.
The event page describes T-Bones & Politics as offering “some of the best political punditry, entertainment and best food for the politically active in Middle Tennessee and across the Mid South. Attendees have enjoyed insight from speakers such as Former Bush White House Chief of Staff, Andrew Card, political insider and commentator Dick Morris, Wisconsin Governor and Presidential Candidate Scott Walker, Fmr. TN Gov Winfield Dunn, Fmr. TN Lt. Gov Ron Ramsey, FoxNews commentator Judge Jeanine Pirro and nationally syndicated radio talk show hosts, The Politichicks.”
In a statement, Sethi said, “I am so honored to have Joe’s support. He’s a conservative leader who knows the difference between real conservatives and showmen. Joe knows what it’s like to take the establishment head-on, and I am grateful to have his backing as conservatives across Tennessee join this campaign.”
