More Than 30 Philly Police Officers Injured in BLM Riot After Police Shoot Black Man Armed with Knife

More than 30 police officers were injured in West Philadelphia overnight amid violent rioting after police shot a black man wielding a knife who refused to disarm. A 56-year old female sergeant reportedly suffered a broken leg after she was struck by a pickup truck driven by protestors. Violent rioters attacked officers with rocks, bricks and other projectiles as mobs looted stores, smashed ATMs and torched police cars.

Video captured on the scene shows Walter Wallace Jr, 27, belligerently advancing toward the Philadelphia police officers Monday afternoon amid calls to “put the knife down.”

Two officers opened fire after he ignored their calls to drop his weapon and continued to advance toward them.

Black Grievance ambulance chaser Benjamin Crump tweeted: “Philadelphia cops fatally shot Walter Wallace Jr. today firing 10+ times at him while he stood at least 10 ft away. He allegedly had a knife but cops made NO attempts at de-escalating the situation in this video. They went Straight to killing Wallace in front of his loved ones!”

Philadelphia Police Sergeant Sgt. Eric Gripp told reporters that officers encountered the knife-wielding Wallace after being called to the block. Officers ordered him to drop the weapon, but he “advanced towards the officers.”

“Officers ordered him several times to drop the weapon,” said Gripp. “He did not do so.”

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said in a statement that a full investigation is underway.

“I have directed the Officer Involved Shooting Investigation Unit to begin its investigation. I recognize that the video of the incident raises many questions. Residents have my assurance that those questions will be fully addressed by the investigation. While at the scene this evening, I heard and felt the anger of the community. Everyone involved will forever be impacted. I will be leaning on what the investigation gleans to answer the many unanswered questions that exist. I also plan to join the Mayor in meeting with members of the community and members of Mr. Wallace’s family to hear their concerns as soon as it can be scheduled.”

The incident quickly aroused protests in neighborhood, which soon devolved into a violent riot that lasted deep into the night.

Demonstrators reportedly gathered at Malcolm X Park and then marched to the police station at 55th and Pine Streets for an hours-long standoff.

At one point, Philly police were forced to retreat from the mob of violent rioters, who continued throwing projectiles at them.

While the police were occupied with the violent mob, looters broke into stores and made off with thousands of dollars of merchandise.

Amid the lawlessness, Philadelphia residents and business owners rushed to the scene to protect their property.

Thirty officers were treated at area hospitals for injuries, according to ABC7.

Philadelphia police officers reportedly arrested nearly 40 people in connection with the overnight violence.

It sounds like the first thing Philly needs to do is get themselves a new Mayor and Police Commissioner with enough backbone to do the job that needs to be done: eliminate the violent criminals by whatever means is necessary. This is far from the first such incident in Philly in the last few months. You’d think by now they’d have learned that coddling and other forms of appeasement of these violent thugs doesn’t work — never has, never will. The fact that they haven’t learned this is proof positive that they are unqualified for the job, and should be removed.

This mob behavior is inexcusable. This is nothing more than an excuse for people with sub-human intelligence and morality to rob, loot, and do damage to people’s property. It’s like a dog defecating in its own bed.

So the deceased was ten feet from the LEOs with a knife. A violent person can run twenty one feet in three seconds. If he was ten feet away he could be on the officers in less than two seconds. The officers had every right of self defense to shoot him. ALL HE HAD TO DO IS PUT DOWN THE KNIFE. I am so sick and tired of reading articles about how law enforcement is evil and are only out to kill people of color. That’s such a load of BS. The Left always wants to make you feel sorry to the criminals and vilify the Police. They’re CRIMINALS, they don’t deserve equal rights anymore. They need to stop breaking the law and follow instructions.

I pray that when President Trump is reelected (and yes, he is going to be reelected no matter how much mayhem the Left incites), that the federal government starts enforcing our laws and starts rounding up these seditious individuals for trial.

By coddling these people, we are only emboldening them. This may sound crude, but law enforcement needs to squelch these riots, which are not protests, with swift and blinding force. Order needs to be restored.
