‘Mandalorian’ Actress Gina Carano Fired over Social Media Posts

Actress Gina Carano, who has a starring role in Disney’s Star Wars-themed series “The Mandalorian,” has been fired by Disney over her conservative views, according to Fox News.

The actress and former MMA fighter has frequently expressed conservative viewpoints on social media, ranging from pointing out voter fraud in the 2020 election to questioning certain government mandates related to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.

Her most recent post compared the persecution of conservatives in America today to the oppression of Jews in Nazi Germany, saying in part “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different than hating someone for their political views?”

Although Carano later deleted the post, the hashtag #FireGinaCarano began trending on Twitter. Eventually, the company Lucasfilm, which owns Star Wars and is owned by Disney, released a statement declaring that Carano is “not currently employed” there, and that “there are no plans for” her to be employed again “in the future.”

The statement falsely asserted that her posts were “denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities,” without presenting any proof, and called her political views “abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Carano had held the starring role of Cara Dune in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, from 2019 to 2020, becoming one of the show’s most popular characters. The series is widely regarded as the most popular and highest-quality Star Wars-related product released by Disney ever since they first acquired the rights to Star Wars over six years ago. All other Star Wars products produced by Disney, including the “sequel trilogy” of feature films, have been widely panned by critics and audiences, and have been accused of whitewashing the original Star Wars lore with modern-day left-wing politics and token “diversity” requirements.
