Multiple shooting victims were reported at a Knoxville, Tennessee, high school Monday, the city’s police department said.

One person was confirmed dead at the scene, and a police officer was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) said in a statement. The shooting occurred at Austin-East Magnet School, where one person was detained for further investigation.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to Austin East Magnet high school on the report of a male subject who was possibly armed in the school. Upon approach of the subject, shots were fired,” the statement said.

Knox County Schools Superintendent Bob Thomas confirmed the shooting in a tweet Monday afternoon, but added that the building was secure.

“The school building has been secured and students who were not involved in the incident have been released to their families,” he said, adding that officials were investigating the “tragic situation” and that they would provide additional information as they learned it.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation also tweeted that it was responding to the incident, adding that it would also provide updates as they came.

Tennessee Republican Gov. Bill Lee called the shooting “a very difficult and tragic situation” during a press conference Monday, and said that his office was receiving updates as well.

The Knoxville Police Department urged people to avoid the area.

This story is breaking and will be updated as new information becomes available.

Liberal Mayor Indya Kincannon has lost control of our city. She helped BLM write BLM on the street in front of this high school. The gangs have taken over and they consider her their friend and not a leader or law enforcer. The Libs are destroying a once-safe place to live.

As in the headline, this was reported to be “multiple shooting victims”, but as I read, there were two, the dead alleged armed male perp and a wounded policeman. I suppose “multiple” means more than one and he was indeed armed if he engaged in a shootout.

I’m very susicious of these school shootings since they have and are seized upon immediately as a narrative for gun control. Gov Bill Lee signed permitless carry on the same day as Joe Biden’s gun control executive orders were announced. One of Joe Biden’s few “accomplishments” was the “Gun Free School Zones” of 1990. And then an armed male is wondering a Tennessee school. It seems his mission in Tennessee was thwarted. But gun free zones and defenseless victims are a set up for mass shootings which provide the desired narrative and a pretext for citizen disarmament.

TBI director states “We have to be careful with our language… This wasn’t a school shooting. This was an officer-involved shooting inside a school.”

Bill needs to get on-message. It’s not a school shooting when police shoot the students at school, only if the student shoots another student….or something.

Also…”shots reportedly fired” by suspect. So did they or did they not?
