Trump Endorses Mike Carey in Ohio Congressional Race

MIKE CAREY

Former President Trump endorsed Mike Carey on Tuesday in his campaign to represent the 15th Congressional District of Ohio.

Trump, who carried the district handily in 2020, weighed in on the race by saying, “He has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

Carey has been campaigning with Corey Lewandowski, one of President Trump’s closest advisors and his first campaign manager. The duo recently completed 7 campaign stops throughout the district over a two day period. Lewandowski endorsed Carey earlier this year, saying the country needed Carey to “beat back the radical ideas coming from Pelosi & Biden.”

Trump described his many reasons for endorsing Carey saying, “He will be a courageous fighter for the people and our economy, is strong on the Border, and tough on Crime.  As a Veteran, he totally supports our Military and his fellow Vets.”

Carey has pledged to be a close ally to the agenda formulated under President Trump. Carey’s website describes him as “a conservative outsider who has spent his career holding politicians accountable and fighting for working class families.”

Trump added, “A strong supporter of the Second Amendment, Mike will do an outstanding job in Congress.”

The Trump endorsement will likely boost Carey’s efforts in a crowded primary field. Twelve Republicans are running for the GOP nomination that will take place on August 3. The winner will face one of the two Democrats running for the open seat.

The open seat for the 15th District was recently vacated by Steve Stivers (R-OH-15). He decided to leave Congress early to become chief executive of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.

The 15th Congressional District is considered to be a safe Republican district. Stivers won election in 2020 by over 100,000 votes.
