Members of the Williamson County-based Tennessee Stands announced Sunday they will launch a statewide tour to promote individual liberty, and their first stop is in northeast Tennessee.
“There is a growing movement across the state of Tennessee for those who understand the state and nation’s Constitution. These people are no longer willing to allow their rights to be eroded or infringed upon. With these rights and values in mind, Tennessee Stands is launching the Freedom Matters Tour to promote constitutional values and to encourage Tennesseans to STAND UP for their personal liberties,” according to an email that members of the group sent to their followers Sunday.
“Join the 14,000+ Tennesseans who have already stood for freedom. If you’re tired of the perpetual masking, medical privacy invasions, indoctrination in schools, or election integrity being compromised here is your opportunity to stand and be counted.”
The first scheduled stop on the tour is at 2 p.m., July 17 at the Higher Ground Baptist Church in Kingsport.
Scheduled keynote speakers will include Tennessee Stands founder Gary Humble, Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles, and others whom the email did not specify. Members of the group said they will announce more stops throughout the state in the coming weeks.
Tennessee Stands, according to its website, calls on state and local officials “to restore our constitutional republic.”
Humble announced late last year that he and other group members would seek new partnerships and a new initiative to recruit right-leaning candidates for county commission and school board seats across the state. This included partnering with groups in Knoxville and Johnson City to form the Tennessee Stands – Knoxville Coalition and the Tennessee Stands – Tri-Cities Coalition.
“[The year] 2022 is staring us in the face. It’s coming fast. We are looking to support God-fearing, Constitution-loving, liberty-loving conservative candidates across the state in our county commission boards and our school board races,” Humble said at the time.
“These local elections are critical to securing the liberties that you and I enjoy every day, so we want to work with those candidates, and we want to help them financially. We should help them with their campaigns. We want to help them be effective in their local communities and in winning those races. We need to do this work.”
