An Arizona congressman said that he will file articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas “in the coming weeks.”

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05) said the following in a statement on his website:

“Secretary Mayorkas is a threat to the sovereignty and security of our nation. As a result of his actions and policies, America is more in danger today than when he began serving as Secretary. He is willfully refusing to maintain operational control of the border and is encouraging aliens to enter our country illegally. Under his direction, DHS is systematically releasing COVID-19 positive aliens into our communities, subjecting the American people to unnecessary and avoidable risks. Secretary Mayorkas is failing to faithfully uphold his oath of office and is presiding over a reckless abandonment of border security and immigration enforcement, at the expense of the U.S. Constitution and the security of the United States,”

Biggs’ announcement comes after weeks of reporting that illegal aliens are rapidly spreading COVID-19.

In McAllen, Texas, city officials were forced to construct a pop-up tent facility for COVID-19 positive illegal aliens. That facility, meant to hold 250 people, is currently occupied by 850.

“Despite the City of McAllen and its community partners’ best efforts, the sheer number of immigrants being released into the city has become a crisis: a crisis the City of McAllen did not create and has proactively tried to avoid for seven years,” the city said, noting that 7500 COVID-19 positive illegal aliens had been released into the city since February, including 1500 just last week.
