Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen Says Donald Trump Had ‘The Most Disgusting Presidency in the History of This Country’

U.S. Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN-09) said on the floor of the House this month that former U.S. President Donald Trump had “the most disgusting presidency in the history of this country.”

Cohen said this as he declared he had voted for the Protecting Our Democracy Act. He said the bill, if enacted into law, would prevent presidential abuses of power, and it would also protect elections from foreign interference. The bill would also require Congressional oversight when the president grants self-pardons or pardons family members, administration officials, or paid campaign staffers.

U.S. Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA-28) sponsored the bill.

Cohen said Trump threatened democracy when he pardoned certain individuals, including Roger Stone and Mike Flynn.

“He [Trump] pardoned people who lied, who grifted, who dealt with the Russians and who were part of the conspiracy to take over the election by communicating with Kilimnik and getting information out there in the social media to beat Hillary Clinton and elect Donald Trump, the most disgusting Presidency in the history of this country,” Cohen said.

“That is why this bill is so important, to protect our democracy and save us from abuses by a future President who doesn’t have limitations on him.”

The Protecting Our Democracy Act passed the House this month by a vote of 220 to 208. Members of the Senate received the bill a few days later, according to congress.gov

In September, Cohen demanded U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer resign so that President Joe Biden could replace him while Democrats still have a majority in the U.S. Senate. Cohen also said it’s time to expand the number of people on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Cohen last year said that African-American Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) “might as well be” white and ridiculed the death of former presidential candidate Herman Cain. Cohen also endorsed a video of actor Robert De Niro bragging he wants to punch Trump in the face.

Cohen bashed MyPillow, Inc. CEO Mike Lindell as just some guy who “makes pillows” and kisses Trump’s posterior. This, after Lindell appeared alongside Trump at a press conference and announced his company would manufacture COVID-19 face masks for hospitals across the country.

Cohen also expressed delight over the Democrat-controlled U.S. House of Representatives no longer requiring people to say “so help me God” under oath. He also used a rape analogy to describe Trump’s time as president.

Without doubt this Congress is one of the worst with Cohen being a big part of that assessment. Memphis, please, don’t send your “village idiot” to Washington DC. They are to be kept at home where they harm no one.

Steve Cohen disgusts me. I think he and Schiff are a Threat to Democracy.

I don’t know the details of the bill Schiff proposed, but I will bet it isn’t about “Protecting Our Democracy”.

Oh come on Steve. Update your 1960’s edition of the Democrat smear tactics playbook. We all know once a Democrat starts pointing the finger that most likely it is them who are the guilty party.

Maybe it’s time to “require” mental cognitive exams/tests on all politicians annually. I don’t know if Cohen makes these outrageous statements to gain attention or if he really believes what he is saying. Regardless, there are enough indications of mental instability that he probably should seek professional help.

Of course he does, the democrats are nothing more than a bunch of lairs. Under President Trump our Nation was doing the best it has ever been in my lifetime. Now look the mess the donks have turned it into.
