Poll Shows Mike Gibbons Maintaining Lead over Opponents in Ohio U.S. Senate Race

A newly-released poll from candidate Mike Gibbons showed the Republican businessman comfortably ahead of his opponents in the Ohio U.S. Senate race.

According to the survey, Gibbons holds roughly 23 percent of the support in the crowded primary. The closest competitors, Josh Mandel and J.D. Vance, hold 10.8 percent and 8.6 percent, respectively.

“I am honored that Ohioans want a true America First conservative as their next US Senator. Our campaign has the momentum and we will win on May 3,” Gibbons said in a tweet.

Further analysis from the polling firm Cygnal showed Gibbons leading in multiple subgroups:

  • Gibbons leads by double digits among self-identified Trump Republicans as well as Traditional Republicans.
  • Among self-identified Extremely Conservative, Very Conservative, and Somewhat Conservative voters, Gibbons maintains double-digit leads across all three.
  • Likewise, Gibbons holds double-digit leads over the nearest competitor among both men and women.
  • By religious affiliation, Gibbons holds strong advantages among Evangelical Protestants, Mainline Protestants, and Catholic voters.

An additional survey also demonstrated that Gibbons holds a lead, although by a much smaller margin. The firm Co/Efficient said the candidate holds 20 percent of the support, compared to Mandel’s 18 percent and Vance’s 5 percent.

Recently, Gibbons expanded his campaign. He brought in Bill Stepien and Justin Clark, who served as the 2020 campaign manager and deputy campaign manager for former President Trump.

“We are excited to have Bill and Justin as part of our team. Having worked with them both on Trump’s 2016 campaign, I know first-hand that their advice and expertise will be invaluable as we move into the final stretch of the primary. We have momentum on our side and look forward to being victorious on May 3,” Mike Biundo, Gibbons’ general consultant and co-founder of Ascent Strategic, said in a statement.
