Crom’s Crommentary: The Media’s Ever-Changing Narrative on Vladimir Putin and the Ukraine Response

Vladimir Putin

Live from Music Row Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Commentary.

CROM CARMICHAEL:

Michael, I have been watching all of the reporting since Putin has invaded Ukraine. Also the lead-up to it. And let me tell you what my conclusion is. And this is just based on a whole bunch of observations. Nobody has told me that this is accurate.

But when I look at everything and put it together and I look at, also, kind of history, here’s kind of what my conclusions are. One is I think that Putin gave Biden a heads-up and told him that he was going to invade Ukraine and go take Ukraine, and told him when he was going to do it.

And I base that on the fact that Biden, about a month ago, started telling Americans to get out of Ukraine, get out of Ukraine! And he took most of the embassy staff out of Ukraine So I think he was given a heads-up. I think he also more or less agreed because Biden is a grifter in the way he thinks; when Putin tells him that Ukraine is historically part of Russia, I think Biden says, “oh, okay, that makes sense to me and it doesn’t hurt me. And by the way, you, Russia and Ukraine, you’ve given my family a lot of money over the years. So you go ahead and do your thing, but let me get the Americans out.”

And so he got the Americans out and Putin invaded. But then the Ukrainians didn’t cooperate. Biden did not give weapons once it started. In fact, the weapons that were being used by the Ukrainians were given by Trump. But they fought hard and they continued to fight hard. And all of a sudden, Vladimir Putin’s attack and invasion of Ukraine is not going so well. So what is the media saying now?

Yes, Every Kid

Two things: The media is saying that Trump says that Putin’s smart. Okay. And they’re condemning Trump for saying that Putin is smart and Biden is dumb. I think the evidence is that Putin is smart and Biden is dumb. I think you can make a pretty good case for both.

But here’s what didn’t happen: The Ukrainians didn’t collapse. They didn’t give in. And now we’re finding out that the Russian Army, it looks like their reports are that the Russian soldiers’ hearts are not into killing Ukrainians and that the Russian soldiers are not as bloodthirsty as Putin is now.

Putin can be smart and bloodthirsty at the same time. Some of the heads of the five [Mafia] families in New York were brutal, terrible people, but they were smart and they were clever. Those are things that you can say about a ruthless, terrible person. Biden, on the other hand, is a grifter to the core.

So let’s look at what the media is saying now about Putin. The media is now saying Putin is deranged. Oh, he’s depressed. He’s not the person he was before. Well, that’s what they’re saying now. If this intelligence was so good, why weren’t they saying that a month ago?

It’s not like he changed in a month. But because the attacks are not going so well, all of a sudden the media has to find a narrative to explain the attacks in the first place, even though the media was on board with the attacks in the first place, in the sense that they weren’t going to attack Biden, because they weren’t going to try to turn Ukraine into another Afghanistan, which the media is doing everything it can to forget ever happened.

And so now you have the European countries that are now agreeing to help and support Zelensky, because you remember Biden said “well, we’ll give you a ride. We’ll give you safe passage out of Ukraine, President Zelensky, if you’d like that.” He said “I don’t want a ride. I want weapons. We’re here to fight.”

Well, that’s a complete anathema to Joe Biden. He doesn’t know how to fight. He just knows how to grift. And now you have a situation – and, by the way, the problem that when Republicans are interviewed about this, they talk about, the intelligence is now telling them that Putin is depressed.

These are the same intelligence agencies that have given terrible information for the last 10 years. Why should we believe that Putin is depressed? I don’t know if he’s depressed or not. I don’t know if he’s isolated or not. I don’t know these things.

All I do is I can observe what’s going on. I can observe what Biden is doing and not doing, and I can observe what the press is doing. And I’ve decided that the only people who are not cooperating with the narrative are the Ukrainian people, who are not collapsing like they’re supposed to. And now that they’re willing to fight, it creates a real problem for the Left in this country.
