All-Star Panelist Roger Simon Talks Disney’s Monopoly and Going Woke

Live from Music Row Thursday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed all-star panelist and The Epoch Times’  Editor-at-Large Roger Simon in-studio to discuss Disney’s leftward-leap-pushing LGBTQ narrative.

Leahy: We are delighted to welcome to our microphones all-star panelist, my former boss at PJTV, Academy Award-nominated screenwriter, and now Senior Editor-at-Large for The Epoch Times, Mr. Roger Simon. Good morning, Roger.

Simon: Good morning. A little groggy this a.m., but I’m here.

Leahy: You are here. And by the way, I’m hearing little birdies are telling me that perhaps the most widely read column at The Epoch Times and perhaps one of the most widely read conservative columnists in the country today is you, Roger Simon.

Simon: Ahhh, (Giggles) downloads.

Leahy: You’re getting a lot of downloads of your articles.

Simon: Yes.

Yes, Every Kid

Leahy: Now what I wanted to talk about is, of course, you have been in the Academy Awards. I’ll get you in our 7:30 segment, we’ll talk a little bit about that slap situation with Will Smith and Chris Rock. Kind of bizarre.

Simon: He who gets slapped. (Leahy laughs)

Leahy: He was in Boston, by the way, last night. His tickets for his performance increased.

Simon: SRO.

Leahy: Standing room only. But you have some experience with Disney. Disney has gone Woke. All the leadership wants to push gay transgender queer ideology.

Simon: LGBTQ and something called 1A, too.

Leahy: What is 1A? Is that the First Amendment? What is it?

Simon: It’s intersex.

Leahy: Intersex. What is that?

Simon: Good question. I looked that up, too, because I guess I didn’t have the proper form of sex. And at the age of 6 anyway, intersex are those people that have, unfortunately at birth, elements of both sexes.

Leahy: So it’s called hermaphrodites. Hard to figure it all out.

Simon: Not on a family show. (Leahy laughs) But the interesting thing is, naturally, there’s a huge debate about how many intersex people there are.

Leahy: What percentage of the U.S. population fits into that category?

Simon: The people who want there to be a lot and define intersex as anyone who has the slightest bit of something from the other sex. Say it’s 1.7 percent. Those who think it’s formally intersex, really … I think it is .04 percent.

Leahy: I think that’s kind of what we’re talking about. So now Disney is big-time against this anti-grooming bill in Florida that Governor DeSantis signed.

Simon: He had some very … I think that he was the instigator or something. And I’m certainly for the DeSantis bill. But the trend that was going on at Disney and Hollywood in general, unfortunately, it’s been going for a long time and it’s reaching its apotheosis.

Leahy: Apotheosis! The word of the day. Now, its high point is at Disney. Now Disney is not a minor thing. Disney and Comcast control the world of entertainment.

I have coming out later, I guess later today or tomorrow in The Epoch Times, I’ll run down everything that Disney owns. And you’re lucky if it doesn’t own you. Simple things like ESPN.

Leahy: ESPN, which has gone totally Woke.

Simon: ABC, which is generally Woke. They own half of the movie studios in Hollywood. They own things like Hulu.

Leahy: Disney owns Hulu.

Simon: Yes.

Leahy: I did not know that.

Simon: They own everything.

Leahy: And Disney World and Disneyland.

Simon: All of that. And Disney Shanghai and Disney Hong Kong. What’s that word from Shakespeare? Comcast and Disney control the world, there is no third. I think it’s probably true. So when Disney burps, everybody goes along with the burp.

So what’s going on now, I think it’s rather frightening, because what they’re doing, I quote Chris Rufo, who you mentioned earlier, if you look at what’s happening, they want to have what is called canonical transgender characters all over their films and presumably all over Disneyland, Orlando, and Anaheim.

Leahy: I get what you’re saying. You can’t understate their power.

Simon: Yes, we can vote with our wallets on it.

Leahy: But they’re in a kind of monopoly situation.

Simon: Exactly.

Leahy: That’s a problem. What are you going to do?

Simon: Well, we also can protest it.

Leahy: Where are you going to take your kids – to Disney World? Disneyland? I mean, if you take them they’re going to have this whatever transgender Wokeism thrown in your face.

Simon: Can you imagine what a Small World will look like now?

Leahy: Oh, my goodness. I can’t resist. What would Walt Disney say about his current company?

Simon: That’s what I wrote in this thing. I think I he’d be terrified, but the other thing is he was a bizarre guy, Disney. But he had real talent.

Leahy: He did.

Simon: The movies he produced were phenomenal. Really great. They’re like classics. These people couldn’t do that to save their you-know-what. And that is a hint of why they are the way they are.
