Mayor Cooper Announces New Additions to Communications, Housing, and Community Impact Departments

Nashville and Davidson County Mayor John Cooper announced five new hires on Monday who will serve in his administration.

“I’m thrilled to welcome these five outstanding professionals to our office – all of whom are already doing great work on behalf of Nashville residents,” Mayor Cooper said in a statement. “Our new staff brings more than 60 years of public service experience to Metro, and adds a range of exceptional talent and diverse experiences to advance our agenda forward, particularly in the housing, workforce development, and community safety space. Each will play an important role making Nashville a welcoming place for everyone.”

The new staffers in Cooper’s office are: Jessica Davis, Linda Harper, Tiara Thomas, Breanna Tillman, and Karin Fielder Weaver.

Jessica Davis has accepted the position of deputy press secretary within the mayor’s office, reporting to Deputy Communications Director Brandon Marshall.

Linda Harper will serve as the mayor’s strategic community engagement liaison, working directly with Deputy Mayor Brenda Haywood.

As an outreach liaison, Tiara Thomas will work with Director of Neighborhoods and Community Engagement Kathy Floyd-Buggs to expand the Mayor’s Know Your Nashville initiative and connect young adults to Metro Nashville.

In the Community Safety and Justice office, Breanna Tillman joins the mayor’s office as community impact manager and will work closely with Community Safety Coordinator Ron Johnson.

As associate director of Housing and Human Services, Karin Fielder Weaver will work together with Director of Economic Growth and Small Business Development LaTanya Director of Economic Growth and Small Business Development LaTanya Channel

Monday’s new hire announcements followed Mayor Cooper’s recent appointment of three staff members: Senior Education Advisor Dr. Robert Wallace Jr., Associate Director of Youth Workforce Economic Opportunity and Community Development La’Kishia Harris, and Director of Economic Growth and Small Business Development LaTanya Channel.
