Crom’s Crommentary: Society Cannot Stand if Communication Providers are Politicized

Live from Music Row, Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Crommentary.

CROM CARMICHAEL:

Michael, there was an article in The Wall Street Journal, and it was called “The Suicide of the Liberal Arts.” And the way the fellow describes it, it’s not the murder of the liberal arts, it’s the suicide of the liberal arts. In other words, it’s self-inflicted. The way it started was, Mr. John, are you an Athenian or a Spartan?

And this was a group of Iraqi students who put that question to a fellow named John Agresto in 2003 when he was in Baghdad working to rebuild Iraq’s university. He misunderstood the question. He said he said, I don’t want to be a Spartan, rough and warlike. And so he said, so I suppose I’m an Athenian.

That was the answer that the students were looking for. I’m quoting here from the article. He said, but Mr. Agresto had misunderstood the question. They wanted to know if Americans were like the Spartans. They talked a lot about honor and their alliances with their friends, and then they betray them.

And the Iraqis wanted to know, are you going to betray us? In other words, you’ve now destroyed the dictatorship here, but are you going to then abandon us in our quest for democracy? That was kind of the question that begs the whole question about a culture in the way that societies are organized.

This is me now, that was the article. Culture is determined primarily by shared values. When a society has conflicting values, it ceases to be a civil society. And if it has bad values, then it will descend into chaos and eventually dictatorship.

Yes, Every Kid

And so I look at the distinctions and differences in our country today, and we’re on the wrong side of history at this point. You have Sam Bankman-Fried who’s pulled off the greatest fraud in modern times, defrauding people of at least $3 billion and counting, who’s being lifted up by the left as a hero only because he gave 10s of millions of dollars to the Democrat Party.

That has to be the only reason that he’s lifted up by the left as a hero because he’s not a common thief. I mean, common thieves look at Sam Bankman-Fried and say, everybody gets upset when we go in and shop left $1,000. This guy stole $3 billion from people, and he’s a hero.

And then I look at our political system now that has decided to jail its political opponents. The word evil applies only to the left’s opponents, which begs the question, if you ask a group of people to define the word evil in a way that you can apply it in a dictionary sense or in a general sense, it’s very difficult to do because the left only thinks of the word evil as it applies to its opponents.

Now, I happen to think that there are people on the left who are evil, but I can define that. And there can be people on the right who are evil. But when Mike Pompeo said that Randi Weingarten is the greatest threat to America in the world, the person who is the greatest threat, I agree with Pompeo because I do think Randi Weingarten is a threat, and I also think she is fundamentally an evil person.

I think that her motives are evil. Tolerance is a word that applies to the left only to themselves. They are tolerant, but they are tolerant of their own views, and they’re completely intolerant of people who disagree with them. When I look at our society today and I compare it, I’m 74 years old, we’ve had our ups and downs.

There’s no question about that. But you’ve got this thing now with this controlled data dump from Twitter showing that the Biden family and the media and the Democratic Party were all in cahoots to cover up the Biden laptop story. And they’re congratulating themselves on just what a great job they did.

And society cannot stand if those who provide the channels of communication to the general public if they are so politicized that they will only support one party, no matter how evil that party may be, then the way that our form of government and our well-being is very much at stake.
