Senator Blackburn Announces Visit to the Southern Border, Invites President Biden

Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) announced that she, along with a group of colleagues, will travel to the Del Rio Sector of the U.S.-Mexico border on January 9-10.

Blackburn will be joined by Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) and Katie Britt (R-AK) to examine the “disastrous effects of Biden’s border crisis firsthand” by meeting with federal, state, and local law enforcement as well as local landowners and those who have “been victimized by the cartels and trafficking.”

In making the announcement, Blackburn invited President Joe Biden to join the senators on their trip.

“Mr. President,” Blackburn began her invitation. “I am glad to hear you are thinking about making a visit to the U.S.-Mexico border— your first as President. I would like to formally invite you to join Senator Hyde-Smith, Senator Britt, and me in Del Rio, Texas this Monday, January 9. We will be assessing the damage caused by this administration’s immigration policies and meeting with some of the victims of those policies.”

“For the sake of the women, children, and American families suffering from a lack of leadership, we urge you to join us,” Blackburn said.

Yes, Every Kid

While Biden does plan to visit the border this Sunday, he will be hundreds of miles away from where Senator Blackburn and her colleagues are. CNBC reports that Biden will visit the border city of El Paso, Texas on Sunday ahead of his trip to Mexico City to attend the North American Leaders’ Summit.

This is not the first time Blackburn has traveled to the southern border while Biden was in office. Blackburn visited the border in South Texas in October 2021, where afterward, she stated that Biden’s immigration policy was “inhumane and unsustainable.”

Blackburn has also long called for Biden to visit the southern border. While speaking on Fox News last month, Blackburn called on the president to visit the border, saying that he “owes it to the American people.”

Blackburn’s comments came after Biden told reporters that there were “more important things going on” instead of visiting the border.

Any idea why Blackburn would go to the border – at taxpayer expense? Anyone who is alive knows that there is a BIG problem at the border create by Biden. The question is really who is going to what about it.
