Legislation filed this week in Tennessee would prohibit the controversial Red Number 40 artificial food dye from being offered to children in any public or charter school in the state.

The legislative summary for House Bill 134 by Representative Elaine Davis (R-Knoxville) explains the legislation would require Tennessee’s public and charter schools to explicitly “prohibit food or beverage items that contain Red 40,” from being “sold, offered for sale, or provided to students on a school property.” It offers an exception for food and beverages “sold to the student as part of a school fundraising event.”

“Mechazilla has caught the Super Heavy booster,” the SpaceX account confirmed in a post to the social media platform X, which Musk purchased in 2022. Video attached to the post shows a SpaceX rocket descend from multiple angles before hovering as the Mechazilla arms extend around it in mid-air.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) under President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland launched a federal lawsuit against Fayette County, Tennessee, alleging its county redistricting plan for the Fayette County Board of Commissioners were gerrymandered to diminish the importance of black voters.

In its 17-page lawsuit, the DOJ accuses Fayette County of violating Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, arguing that black voters were given unequal voting opportunities as a result of the 2021 redistricting process.
