Michigan Court Strikes Down Informed Consent Abortion Laws

A Michigan court Tuesday struck down three safety laws that allegedly violated the state’s constitutional right to abortion.

The case was brought against the state of Michigan by an abortion clinic challenging three laws that mandated a 24-hour waiting period before performing an abortion, required clinics to provide counseling materials that the abortion providers claimed were “biased” and allowed only qualified medical staff to perform the procedures. Michigan residents voted to enshrine a right to abortion into the state constitution in 2022, an amendment that left no room for restrictions of any kind to be placed on the act.

Trump Economy Defies ‘Gloom and Doom’ Expectations as He Notches More Key Trade Deals

Donald Trump

With April’s inflation report coming in below forecasts, the Trump economy appears to be defying analysts’ and politicians’ predictions of collapse in the wake of his “Liberation Day” tariffs and subsequent trade negotiations. As Trump adds more notches to his belt in deals with key trade partners, the stock market has rebounded to pre-tariff levels, even while many tariffs remain largely in place on major economies such as China and the UK.

In April of this year, former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said the developments of Trump’s tariffs point to “a loss of confidence in U.S. economic policy” and called the tariffs “the worst self-inflicted policy wound I’ve ever seen in my career inflicted on our economy […] they are “doing immense damage.”

Colorado Murder Rate Dives After ICE Deports Tren de Aragua Gangbangers

Breitbart   New data shows that homicides in Denver and Aurora, Colorado, have experienced a significant drop in the wake of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) efforts to take down the Tren de Aragua gang members that had been causing so much chaos in the area. But local Americans are still being killed by President Joe Biden’s migrants, including a 24-year-old woman killed in July of 2024 in Aurora by a 15-year-old reckless illegal-migrant driver. The local prosecutor just offered a sweetheart probation and community service deal to the youth migrant who is now applying for humanitarian asylum. The numbers have taken a significant downturn in the first quarter of 2025, according to data from the Major Cities Chiefs Association, KSUA-TV reported. READ THE FULL STORY

Water drinker

The Environmental Protection Agency said Wednesday that it plans to pause putting limits on some so-called forever chemicals in drinking water that were finalized last year, while maintaining standards for two common ones.

Newsom Suddenly U-Turns on Free Healthcare for Illegal Migrants

Gavin Newsom

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom reportedly wants to revise a program giving taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal migrants in a proposed state budget.

Newsom’s spending plan for the state’s legislature requires illegal migrants to pay $100 monthly premiums to receive California Medi-Cal coverage, reversing existing policy, the Los Angeles Times reported. The policy offering free healthcare for migrants regardless of immigration status has put a major strain on California’s already stretched budget after just one full year of operating at its recently expanded capacity, according to state estimates.

Group Appeals to Tennessee Supreme Court in Lawsuit Claiming Nashville Transit Plan Violates IMPROVE Act

WeGo Bus stop

A request to appeal to the Tennessee Supreme Court was filed on Tuesday by the Committee to Stop an UnFair Tax and its chairwoman, Emily Evans, who sued Mayor Freddie O’Connell and the City of Nashville earlier this year over the Choose How You Move transit plan.

Evans and the committee allege O’Connell and the city failed to adhere to the IMPROVE Act of 2017, which specifically allows Tennessee’s large cities to enact a sales tax surcharge for the purpose of building a mass transit system. The Choose How You Move plan enacted a 0.5 percent sales tax surcharge.

Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell Suggests ICE Immigration Enforcement Unnecessary After DHS Says City ‘Would Rather Protect Illegal Aliens’

Freddie O'Connell

Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell on Tuesday suggested that the joint immigration enforcement operation between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) in Nashville was unnecessary, reportedly asserting the metro government is capable of reducing crime in a method that does not “separate families, hurt our economy,” or “distress an entire community” in the city.

He made the remarks shortly after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) criticized the mayor for his new “Belonging Fund,” which he called a partnership between Nashville and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Nashville Officials Could Be In Violation of State Immigration Laws

Freddie O'Connell

Recent statements from Nashville officials seem to run perilously close to violating state law. From Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s carefully crafted statements — to Police Chief John Drake’s declaration that the Metro Nashville officers “do NOT work with ICE” — to an admission from State Representative Aftyn Behn (D-Nashville) that she physically worked to “distract and delay” the immigration enforcement activities of ICE; these actions, statements and policies have raised eyebrows AND questions.
