America’s Got Talent Season 12 Winner, Darci Lynne Farmer, Makes Debut at the Opry and Ryman

When the shy but active Darci Lynne asked her parents for a puppet when she was nine years old, her parents initially tried to discourage it.  However, they eventually reneged and gave her a “cheap” one for her 10th birthday.  She was fascinated with the dying art of ventriloquism because it was “so cool” that people could talk with their mouths closed.  She wanted to “wow” people like another ventriloquist winner on America’s Got Talent, Terry Fator and Miss Teen America contestant, Lisa Bonacquisti.  So even though she was already singing and doing gymnastics, with tips form Bonacquisti, she self-taught herself the skill and won Edmond’s Got Talent where she won first prize after a month’s preparation.  In 2015, she won first place in both the junior division at Oklahoma’s Got Talent and Oklahoma Kids and won Broadway, Specialty Acts, and overall Entertainer of the Year at American Kids in Branson, Missouri. In March 2016, Farmer made an appearance on Little Big Shots.  Then she asked her parents if she could try out for America’s Got Talent. They advised her that “the judges can be very brutal.” (As anyone who has watched Simon Cowell can verify.)  After the twelve-year-old shocked the world and herself by actually winning Americas…

Tracy Lawrence Announces 12th Annual ‘Mission: Possible’ Turkey Fry and 3rd Annual Concert

NASHVILLE, Tennessee–Tracy Lawrence and Friends Announce the 12th Annual “Mission:Possible” Turkey Fry at the Nashville Rescue Mission followed by a concert at the Wildhorse Saloon featuring Halfway to Hazard, Ben Gallaher, William Michael Morgan, Luke Combs, Jamie O’Neal and Clay Cormier. Enlisting help from fellow Nashville music, sports and entertainment celebrities, as well as a host of volunteers, Lawrence and friends will fry up to 600 donated turkeys ensuring a warm meal for those less fortunate this Thanksgiving.  States Lawrence, “When their kids are out of school, so many families don’t have food to eat.” Mission:Possible and other outlets deliver to government housing along with the Men’s and Women’s shelters to help ensure they have something to eat. Kenny Rogers Receives Star on the Music City Walk of Fame

NASHVILLE, TN  – Grammy winner and music icon Kenny Rogers was inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame on October 24. The induction ceremony took place one day in advance of the all-star “All In For The Gambler: Kenny Rogers’ Farewell Concert Celebration” taking place at Bridgestone Arena. He will receive the 80th star on the Music City Walk of Fame. Inductees are recognized for their significant contributions to preserving the musical heritage of Nashville and for contributing to the world through song or other industry collaboration. Introducing Kenny Rogers was long-time touring partners, the Oak Ridge Boys.  In 1979, Kenny Rogers became the first person to sell out arenas in his Full House Tour.   The Oak Ridge Boys’ Joe Bonsall reminded the crowd, “No other country tour in history had played 90 cities in a row, to 18,000+ people.”  Touring with Kenny Rogers, “We didn’t see an empty seat for ten years.” Not only that, Kenny Rogers brought the Oak Ridge Boys along for a Christmas tour.  “This year, [because of Kenny Rogers], we are embarking on our 29th Christmas tour,” stated Bonsall.
