Roger Simon on Pro-Hamas, Anti-Israel Protests on College Campuses: ‘What Happened in Germany in 1937’ Is ‘What We’re Undergoing Now’

Roger Simon, the co-founder of PJMedia and current columnist for The Epoch Times, said the pro-Hamas protests unfolding on Ivy League college campuses across the nation are comparable to the scene in Germany in 1937.

Simon made the comments on Tuesday’s episode of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show after listening to audio of a clip taken from Columbia University where pro-Palestine protesters formed a human chain to keep Jewish students out of an encampment on the university’s campus.

Noting how he took classes from Columbia in the past, Simon said the protests unfolding at the Ivy League school is “ironic” as the university is a “largely Jewish institution.”

“Columbia’s been part of my life. I took courses there and the irony, of course, is that for the most part, Columbia – more than any of the Ivys – is a largely Jewish institution…I guess it all comes down to understanding what happened in Germany in 1937. That’s what we’re undergoing now,” Simon said.

Simon went on to note how the Biden administration’s silence surrounding the issue is driven by the president’s desire to win over the Muslim vote in Michigan and Minnesota in the November election.

“The Biden administration is, of course, ambivalent about the whole thing because they’re worried about the voters in Michigan and Minnesota – Muslim voters,” Simon said.

Simon also attributed the rise in protests to social media and a “destroyed” education system.

Yes, Every Kid

“You have this massive fad by a generation that grew up on social media and our educational system that’s been destroyed, essentially. Now we’re reaping the whirlwind. That’s the title of a famous book about Stalin sending people to Siberia,” Simon said.

Noting how those who are after the Jewish people are also after Christians, Simon said, “God is the only way out of this.”

“As this has grown, I’ve become more religious,” Simon said, adding how, growing up, he had “never suffered any prejudice” for being Jewish.
