A 100-foot “Vote for Trump” sign in Amsterdam, New York, drew a crowd of more than 3,000 people on Sunday to celebrate its victory in a legal battle brought by the city’s Democratic mayor, who wanted the sign removed because it was a “distraction” for drivers.
The sign is on top of the once-iconic Fownes manufacturing building in Amsterdam, which is now owned by Sticker Mule. Sticker Mule sells custom merchandise, including stickers, t-shirts, magnets, buttons, labels, packaging, keychains, temporary tattoos, and hot sauce.
The pro-Trump sign was installed on top of the Sticker Mule building after the first assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump in July.
The CEO of Sticker Mule, Anthony Constantino, said the sign was not only installed as an effort to stop anti-Trump hate but also a nod to symbolize the return of manufacturing to America as the building’s previous occupier, Fownes, moved its production to China in the 80s.
However, the Democratic mayor of Amsterdam brought a restraining order against the sign, claiming it violated the city’s code by distracting drivers.
While the sign was temporarily covered while the legal battle played out, a court granted Constantino’s motion to vacate the restraining order earlier this month, allowing the sign to be displayed.
“I originally intended for the sign to symbolize the return of manufacturing to America, but now it’s become a symbol for free speech,” Constantino said in a statement.
On Sunday, Constantino hosted an event at the sign that drew more than 3,000 people to celebrate his legal victory.
Sunday’s event featured Porsche Truck Ruk’s first live performance of the pro-Trump song “Say What You Mean ft Vado and Dave East” and a performance by Trump impressionist and comedian Bob DiBuono.
In addition, Constantino also endorsed Joe Mastroianni for the New York State Assembly and announced plans to commission the “Donald J. Trump Defiance” monument during Sunday’s event.
Another event at the sign is planned for Election Day, November 5. Constantino said it will welcome people “from all political persuasions” to encourage “national unity.”
Constantino’s victory over the ‘Vote for Trump’ sign comes weeks after he and his company launched a political action committee (PAC) in support of Trump. The PAC is giving away 500,000 packs of pro-Trump stickers that supporters can order for free at StickerPAC.com.
