The new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the incoming Trump administration is accepting applications for individuals looking to root out unnecessary spending in government.
On Tuesday, President-elect Donald Trump announced that DOGE will be led by billionaire Elon Musk and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to “dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies.”
We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at DOGE. We don’t need more part-time idea generators. We need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting. If that’s…

DOGE’s official X account announced Thursday it is accepting applications from “high-IQ small-government revolutionaries” individuals available to work “80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting.”
“We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at DOGE. We don’t need more part-time idea generators. We need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting,” DOGE wrote on X.
“If that’s you, DM this account with your CV. Elon & Vivek will review the top 1% of applicants,” the post added.
In his Tuesday announcement, Trump said DOGE’s work to cut federal spending would conclude “no later than July 4, 2026.”
“A smaller Government, with more efficiency and less bureaucracy, will be the perfect gift to America on the 250th Anniversary of The Declaration of Independence,” Trump said.
In Fiscal Year 2024, the federal government spent just over $6.75 trillion, according to data provided by the Treasury Department.
Of the $6.75 trillion spent, $1.46 trillion (22 percent) is being spent on Social Security; $912 billion (14 percent) is spent on Health; $882 billion is going towards Net Interest (13 percent); and $874 billion is being spent both on Medicare and National Defense (13 percent each).
Last month while speaking at a rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Musk said his goal would be to cut approximately $2 trillion from the federal government’s current spending.
