Arizona Delegation at the 2024 Republican National Convention

The Arizona delegation is poised to significantly impact the 2024 Republican National Convention, held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this week. The delegation includes several high-profile figures, including Kari Lake, election security expert Shelby Busch, and three alternate electors with pending court cases. The path to Milwaukee was tumultuous because of internal disputes, such as the attempted replacement of six delegates. The delegation has maintained a strong presence at the convention, and according to the delegates, there has been a powerful show of unity.

Lake delivered a prime-time speech at the convention, sharply criticizing the Democratic Party and its policies. She blamed President Biden and Democrats for allowing criminals and drugs to flood into Arizona, leading to tragic fentanyl-related deaths. “Because of them, criminals and deadly drugs are pouring in and our children are getting their hands on it and dying,” she said, highlighting the emotional stories of parents losing children to fentanyl poisoning.

Lake called for stronger border security, leading the crowd in a “build the wall” chant, and denounced “Bidenomics” while expressing nostalgia for the Trump-era economy.

Her appearance at the convention proves her prominence within the GOP. She was introduced as “the next Senator of Arizona” to replace Senator Kyrsten Sinema(D-AZ).

After her speech at the RNC convention, Lake sent her supporters a letter reiterating her points about the media. “Almost everyone loved my speech today, except those in the fake news. They’ve outstayed their welcome. For the past eight years, they’ve consistently lied about Donald Trump and his supporters. They distort everything—from Joe Biden’s health to the economy and the border,” said Lake.

The senate candidate also claimed, “The good news is every day, more and more people are turning off the fake news and waking up to the truth about the disastrous Democrat policies pushed by Joe Biden and his favorite Congressman, Ruben Gallego.”

Before the trip, delegation chair Shelby Busch played a crucial role in dealing with potential disruptions. Busch assured the Trump campaign and the RNC that there would be no attempts to disrupt the nomination process. She sat for an interview with MAAP Real Talk Show the weekend before the convention, where she talked about the unsuccessful attempt to unseat some of the delegates.

During the convention, Busch, flanked by the Arizona delegates casts its 43 votes for Trump to be the next president of the United States.

Dr. Bob Branch expressed his profound honor to the Arizona Sun Times in serving as a delegate at the Republican National Convention. He stated, “It is a tremendous privilege to represent Arizona and to ensure that President Trump secures the nomination. Our delegation is united in our mission. Yesterday we prayed for guidance, and today we stand ready to fight for our shared values and the future of our nation. Unity and determination will be our guiding principles as we work together to make America stronger.”
