Former President Donald Trump will be the 47th President of the United States after being projected to win 270 votes in the Electoral College by Fox News, Newsmax, DecisionDesk HQ, and NewsNation just after midnight on November 6, making him the President-elect of the United States. He will serve alongside Senator JD Vance, who was elected to serve as vice president.
At the time the race was called by DecisionDesk, Trump was additionally expected to win the popular vote against Vice President Kamala Harris, representing the first time a Republican presidential candidate won the popular vote since 2004.
Trump was projected by media outlets to win the election after being declared the winner of Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, and Wisconsin securing early victories in four of the seven battleground states, even after many states claimed they would need days to count the election results. As of press time, Fox News’ electoral college count was 277 to 226 with a handful of states still outstanding.
The first battleground state called for Trump was North Carolina, which was followed by Georgia, which was called hours after Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger declared the former president had an “insurmountable” lead in the Peach State.
Prior to the vote, Trump polled ahead in all seven battleground states, and his campaign expressed optimism he would win additional states including Virginia, New Mexico. and Minnesota.
While Trump announced plans to deliver a victory speech on Tuesday, the Harris campaign canceled the vice president’s plans to speak to supporters, many of whom reportedly left her Howard University watch party in tears.
The former president won after outperforming his turnout during the 2020 election, and even as multiple swing states are yet to be called for either candidate.
In 2016, Trump won with an Electoral Vote margin of 304 votes in the Electoral College. President Joe Biden received a similar 306 votes in the Electoral College when he was declared the winner over Trump in 2020.
The unofficial President-elect addressed supporters late Tuesday.

We have waited four years for this day, and the satisfaction is indescribable. The results of this election are another tell that the 2020 election was stolen by the democrats with the blessing of the deep state and RINOs on January 6th. Thank God that Americas legal citizens, of all races, came together to show their desire to get America back on the right track. A quote from an article this morning on MSNBC.com.
Trump or no Trump, the Democratic Party is suffering from a problem that goes beyond any one candidate. Culture matters as much as policy, and they would be wise to acknowledge it now if they hope to stem the rush of people calling the Republican Party — even this one — home.
God Bless America.
