“I am proud to support my friend Andy Ogles for re-election to the House of Representatives,” Carson wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
“Now more than ever, we need patriots like [Andy Ogles] fighting for America First policies in Washington. He has done a great job representing the people of TN-05 and he has my full endorsement,” Carson added.
Ogles said he was “honored and encouraged” to have received Carson’s endorsement.
“Dr. Ben Carson stands among the brightest minds and most Godly individuals in our nation,” Ogles said. “I am tremendously honored and encouraged to receive his endorsement!”
Ogles, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, has served as the U.S. representative for the Volunteer State’s 5th Congressional District since January 2023.
Before his election to Congress, Ogles served as the mayor of Maury County from 2018 until 2022.
In addition to Carson’s endorsement, Ogles has been endorsed by multiple Tennessee state legislators, congressional legislators, Americans for Prosperity Action, the Conservative Political Action Conference, the Republican Liberty Caucus, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04), and former President Donald Trump.
Ogles faces Metro Nashville Council Member Courtney Johnston in the Republican primary, which will be held on August 1.
In terms of fundraising, Johnston leads Ogles with more cash on hand going into the primary election.
Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show Johnston’s campaign with $502,027.89 cash on hand compared to Ogles’ reported $299,738.48 cash on hand as of June 30.
Early voting for the August 1 election runs through July 27. The last day to request an absentee ballot is July 25.
