Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley returns to the Granite State on Thursday for another packed schedule of campaigning, this time a three-day swing through New Hampshire’s North Country.
Haley will host three town halls, a meet-and-greet and be a special guest at a summer house party.
The former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations made headlines over the weekend when she said that China has been preparing for war with the United States for a long time, and that the Biden administration has failed to face that reality.
“If you look at the military situation, they now have the largest naval fleet in the world,” Haley said during an interview with “Fox News Sunday.”
“They have 340 ships, we have 293. They’re going to have 400 in two years, we won’t even have 350 in two decades. They have started developing hypersonic missiles. We’re just now getting started,” she added.
Haley, who has attempted to walk a more moderate line on abortion than some of her opponents while asserting her pro-life credentials, has called for more “consensus” on the divisive issue. She repeated on “Fox News Sunday’ her opposition to imprisoning women who get abortions.
“Consensus on the fact that let’s encourage more adoptions that are good quality adoptions, consensus on the fact that we should have contraception —that contraception should be available and consensus that no state law should put a woman in jail or give her the death penalty for having an abortion,” Haley said. “Let’s start there and whatever 60 Senate votes come to, whether that’s 15 weeks, I absolutely would sign it.”
The former governor begins her New Hampshire trip with a town hall on Thursday at the North Conway Community Center. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.
Haley has a full day of campaigning on Friday, with a candidate meet-and-greet at 11 a.m. at the Moon Bakery and Cafe in Lincoln. She’ll host a town hall at VFW Post 3041 in Lancaster at 3 p.m.
On Saturday, Haley is scheduled to hold a town hall at 11:30 a.m. in Hanover, followed by a summer house party at 2 p.m. in Henniker.
A poll released last week by Saint Anselm College Survey Center found Haley with 5 percent support among New Hampshire voters surveyed, trailing former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (6 percent), Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (19 percent), and former President Donald Trump dominating the field at 47 percent.
