Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou released a statement on Tuesday following Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ running mate selection as Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, warning that the pair, if elected in November, would “crush” middle class families in Ohio.
“Tim Walz is the perfect choice for a San Francisco liberal like Kamala Harris. During his tenure as governor, he provided drivers licenses and free college tuition to illegal immigrants. He failed to protect his citizens from the most violent and dangerous riots in recent memory,” Triantafilou said.
Triantafilou went on to compare Walz to Ohio U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), who, despite distancing himself from Harris’ campaign, has voted with the Biden administration 99 percent of the time from 2021 to 2023, according to data by VoteView.
Brown, who has served in the U.S. Senate since 2007, was also shown to have voted with Harris 84 percent of the time while she served in the U.S. Senate – where she earned the title of the most “liberal” member of the chamber by GovTrack at the time.
In fact, Brown and Harris were found to have co-sponsored nearly 500 pieces of legislation together while working together in the Senate, including bills pushing anti-police and pro-illegal immigration policies, according to a report by Fox News.
“Just like Sherrod Brown, he has been, and will continue to be, a rubber stamp for Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s radical agenda that has crushed Ohio’s middle class families,” Triantafilou said
“Ohioans continue to vote for Republicans because Democrats continue to make choices like picking Tim Walz – an out-of-touch, far left governor who is not looking out for everyday Americans,” Triantafilou added.
Triantafilou’s statement following Harris’ pick of Walz as her running mate echoed the warning from the Republican National Committee (RNC), which called the Harris-Walz ticket the “most radical, far-left ticket in the history of our country.”
“Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are two open borders, weak on crime, defund the police liberals who make up the most radical, far-left ticket in the history of our country,” the RNC said.
“Walz supports illegal immigration, has called cops racist, put violent criminals back on the street, and in 2020, let rioters burn the Twin Cities while Kamala stepped in to fundraise for their bail. Despite her staff’s attempts to walk back her dangerously liberal record, Kamala has proven that she will always put criminals, illegal immigrants, and the radical fringe of her party above American families. Now more than ever, we need to elect President Donald J. Trump to put America First,” the RNC added.
