Tennessee U.S. Representative Mark Green (R-TN-07), a decorated combat veteran, endorsed the new “Veterans and Military Families for Trump” coalition organized by former President Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.
The Trump campaign says its newest coalition is an “opportunity for our great heroes and their families to help Donald J. Trump finish the job he began during his first term as our nation’s Commander-in-Chief, securing the blessings of freedom for those who selflessly risked their lives to defend it.”
The coalition, announced on Sunday ahead of Memorial Day, has been endorsed by over 175 decorated veterans and Gold Star families.
Green, who has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2019 and currently serves as the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, graduated from West Point and came to the Volunteer State in his last assignment in the Army as the flight surgeon for the premier special operations aviation regiment.
As a Night Stalker, Green deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan in the War on Terror. Green says his most “memorable mission” was the capture of Saddam Hussein, where he interviewed Hussein for six hours.
During his 24 years in the service between the U.S. Military Academy, active-duty Army, and Army Reserves, Green was awarded the Bronze Star, the Air Medal with V Device for Valor, among others.
Green is joined by Corporal Chris Turner, a fellow Tennessean and veteran of the U.S. Marines, in endorsing the “Veterans and Military Families for Trump” coalition.
In a message to “every veteran” upon launching the coalition, Trump said, “You are America’s greatest living heroes, and we will cherish you now, always, and forever.”
“This and every Memorial Day we honor and pay tribute to those patriots of service who have died. This somber day of remembrance should also inspire us to reflect and be grateful for those of service who remain and those still serving today while risking everything to defend our great nation,” Trump’s campaign added.
