Tom Zawistowski, president of the We the People Convention, said Republicans’ message moving forward to voters from now until Election Day should be about policy and issues with “substance” that will motivate Americans to head to the polls.
“It’s really important for everyone…to focus on the things that are important,” Zawistowski said on Wednesday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show.
An example of substantive issues that are important to voters, Zawistowski explained, is former President Donald Trump’s proposed tax break policy for family caregivers and Trump’s proposed plan to seize the assets of criminal gangs and drug cartels.
“Focus on the things that are important, like Donald Trump announcing that he’s going to have a tax credit for the millions of people who are caregivers for their family members. That’s what’s important. Trump has talked about confiscating the drug cartels’ money and using it to compensate those who’ve been damaged by the illegal violence that’s been conducted across our country. That’s what’s important. There’s substance to that,” Zawistowski said.
Zawistowski said focusing on specific policy proposals and issues that hit home with voters comes as there is “no substance” coming from the left or out of Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign.
“There’s no substance on the left. I saw an article this morning that says the progressive agenda is over, their ideas have been rejected. We can only hope that is true, but one thing we know for sure is that the American people don’t believe the lies anymore. They see with their own eyes and they investigate and they ask questions, and that’s a really important step forward for our nation,” Zawistowski said.
Zawistowski further stressed the importance of the November 5 general election, explaining how the results will “determine the direction of the world for decades to come.”
“Throughout history, there have been days and events where the fate of mankind literally changed in one day. The Battle of Waterloo, Gettysburg, D-Day. This is such a time. Right now we are living it and what we do in the next six days will determine the direction of the world for decades to come,” Zawistowski said.
“I’m urging everyone to redouble their efforts, keep talking about the issues, about freedom, and getting rid of the censorship and restoring our constitution and the rule of law and keep talking about making America healthy again and strong again. That’s the message we’ve got to carry for six days because we, like our fathers and grandfathers and great uncles who were on those boats going on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, are facing the fate of our nation and we must win. We must win and it’s up to us to make it happen,” Zawistowski added.
