Music Feeds Nashville is set to host its 13th food distribution Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Plaza Mariachi Music City. In partnership with One Generation Away, the Franklin food ministry has a community-based initiative designed to help unemployed Nashvillians keep food on the table.
The program brings the music community together to deliver food straight to Nashville Metro neighborhoods in an effort to make healthy food more accessible during the pandemic. Music
artists such as Martina McBride, Lauren Alaina, Michelle Branch, Patrick Carney (The Black Keys), and more have donated truckloads of food along with Marbaloo Marketing and CTK Enterprises.
In order to eliminate direct contact and adhere to the current social distancing safety guidelines, meals are loaded directly into cars by volunteers while supplies last. This allows up to 400 families to drive up to receive a cartload of food at no charge.
Approximately 40,000 pounds of food is dropped off in a neighborhood or school parking lot with items including fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat and bread. One Generation Away is organizing the campaign and overseeing the drive-thru style food distributions each Saturday morning.
Anyone in the Nashville-area that is interested in volunteering is encouraged to report to the designated location by 8:00 a.m. on Saturday with masks and gloves. Donations can be made online at MusicFeedsNashville.com or OneGenAway.com.
