NASHVILLE, Tennessee – The inaugural Lifest Music City was held at the Hideaway Farm outside of Nashville and was a tremendous accomplishment. Seeing as many of the popular contemporary Christian artists call Nashville home, it just made sense to branch out to Tennessee.
Lifest founder Bob Lenz said, “When we heard that the Johnny Cash property was available, Chuck Tilley, who started Atlantafest said, ‘So what do you think about doing Lifest down here?’ All I kept seeing in my mind was all of these families coming together to have a party while learning about the message of Jesus through music. I thought: wow what better place than right outside of Nashville, Tennessee?”
He continued, “I’ve been doing Lifest in Oshkosh, Wisconsin for 22 years now, but my thought starting this year was ‘What if this awesome Christian music event could give back to the schools in Tennessee, and bring the message that every person has value through the Dignity Revolution?’”
Both Lifest Oshkosh and Lifest Music City are presented by Life Promotions, a nonprofit organization focused on instilling hope in youth. Lenz is featured each year as a keynote speaker at Lifest, and he is available year-round to speak at your school, community outreach, church, conference, retreat, or other events. While Lifest fills four days full of music and ministry, Life Promotions fills the other 361 days of the year with life-changing school programs and outreach events. More than 500,000 people are impacted by Life Promotions programs and events each year.
Life Promotions hosted the three-day festival featuring artists such as Newsboys, Michael W. Smith, Skillet, Matthew West, I Am They, Mandisa, Lecrae, Sidewalk Prophets, Leanna Crawford, and many others.
One of the guest speakers was Alveda King. She emphasized, “We need to love each other. Yes, we may see color, but that is not what defines us. We are all created in the image of God and united by our faith.”
Besides food trucks and activities for kids, Blood Assurance was there collecting blood for those in need. Smaller stages were placed throughout the property, where local singers/songwriters were prominently featured.
Lifest raises money to promote the Dignity Revolution movement and curriculum throughout schools in America. Their mission is to educate and empower youth to stand up for the value of every person. Educators using the curriculum use age-appropriate activities that help to prevent/stop bullying, strengthen mental health, and ultimately save lives.
