Amy Slaton-Halterman, who stars in TLC’s hit reality show “1000-Lb. Sisters,” was arrested in Crockett County on Monday on multiple drug possession and child endangerment charges.

The Crockett County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday that its deputies were dispatched to the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo earlier in the day for a call regarding a guest being bit by one of the park’s camels.

Upon arrival at the Safari Park, deputies “were immediately overtaken by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle,” the sheriff’s department said.

Slaton-Halterman, who is a mother of two young sons, was arrested on two counts of child endangerment, illegal possession of Schedule I, and illegal possession of Schedule VI.

Deputies also arrested Brian Scott Lovvorn, who was in the car with Slaton-Halterman at the time, with the same charges.

Both Lovvorn and Slaton-Halterman were booked into the Crockett County Jail on Monday.

The Tennessee Safari Park includes a 7.5-mile drive-through safari and a 20-acre walk-through zoo. Guests can feed the “exotic” animals featured in the drive-through portion from their own vehicles.

It remains unclear who was allegedly bitten by a camel at the Safari Park, which prompted the law enforcement presence on Monday.

Slaton-Halterman’s arrest comes as “1000-Lb. Sisters” is rumored to be in the filming stage for the show’s sixth season.

The reality show, which first aired in January 2020, follows Slaton-Halterman and her sister, Tammy Slaton, as they journey to lose weight via weight-loss surgery. The show has documented the sisters’ lives for five seasons, spanning just over four years.

Slaton-Halterman’s arrest on Monday comes one year after Slaton was arrested on marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession charges in Kentucky, according to the entertainment news outlet In Touch Weekly.
