The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs has quietly canceled a webinar event for sworn law enforcement personnel focusing on the “lessons learned” from the Covenant School in Nashville shooting last year.
On March 27, 2023, Audrey Hale, who identified as transgender, shot and killed three adults and three students at the Covenant School in Nashville.
The DOJ’s webinar event, originally scheduled to be held on February 29, was to feature Metro Nashville Police Captain Steven Bowers providing an “overview, review factors that may have contributed to the violence, and share lessons learned on effective prevention, response, and recovery strategies” learned in the aftermath of the shooting.
Bowers (pictured above) was also to engage with the audience regarding “questions about lessons learned in the event” and to help participants “[i]dentify specific opportunities and strategies to prevent and effectively respond to school violence” following the webinar.
While the original webinar event page identified Bowers as “the commanding officer” with the Metro Nashville Police Department’s (MNPD) School Safety Division at the time of the shooting, an MNPD press release from March 31, 2023, indicated he did not rise to that position until days after the shooting.
The Tennessee Star reached out to the DOJ’s Office of Justice Programs for comment regarding the event’s cancellation; however, it did not receive a response by the time of publication.
The cancellation of the webinar event comes as Star News Digital Media, the parent company of The Star, is a plaintiff in a multi-party lawsuit seeking to compel the Metro Nashville Police Department to release the Covenant School shooter’s manifesto.
The Star is also a plaintiff in a separate lawsuit seeking to compel the FBI to release the shooter’s manifesto.

Pathetic. Sounds like they found someone that is cool with being an admin ventriloquist dummy/company propagandist, immediately promoted him and assigned him to cover their back sides.
Typical Metro.
The Department of Just-do-as-you-please is willing to sell a narrative to a select few but is unwilling to be honest with the public. The level of rot that resulted in the deaths of six people is not worth the harm that our government is concealing.
