Former Trump Aide Peter Navarro Arrives at RNC in Milwaukee Hours After Release from Federal Prison

Peter Navarro, former director of the U.S. Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy during the Trump administration, arrived at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Wednesday just hours after being released from federal prison.

Navarro was released from the minimum security satellite camp of the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Miami on Wednesday morning after serving 90 days for being convicted of failing to comply with a congressional subpoena to testify before the U.S. House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack.

While D.C. District Court Judge Amit P. Mehta sentenced Navarro to four months imprisonment for failing to comply with the select committee’s subpoena, the former Trump aide served just 90 days in the FCI Miami minimum security camp.

Hours after his release from the federal prison in Miami, Navarro arrived in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention. He is scheduled to speak between the time slots of 6:30 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. CST on Wednesday.

When asked about his message of “unity” as he arrived in Milwaukee, Navarro told reporters, “My message of unity is quite simple: We have to unite this country. And every Democrat disengaged from, disenfranchised by, or disgusted with Joe Biden’s America and the radical left turn that the elites of the Democratic Party have taken – come on down.”

Navarro and Steve Bannon, Trump’s former strategic adviser and host of the popular show War Room, were both sentenced to four months in prison in cases stemming from their contempt referrals by Congress.

Bannon began serving his four-month prison sentence earlier this month, on July 1, at the Federal Correctional Institution Danbury in Danbury, Connecticut.
