A former Franklin youth soccer coach who is in the U.S. illegally pleaded guilty to child exploitation and immigration offenses on Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee announced.
Camilo Campos-Hurtado pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of receiving visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, one count of using or possessing fraudulent immigration documents, and one count of possessing an identification document or authentication feature that was stolen or produced without lawful authority.
Last year, Campos-Hurtado (pictured above) was arrested after leaving his phone in a restaurant. When restaurant staff members used the phone in an attempt to identify its owner, they found imagery of child sexual abuse and contacted police.
After executing multiple search warrants, law enforcement discovered Campos-Hurtado to be in possession of child pornography and numerous counterfeit identification and immigration documents.
Campos-Hurtado was found to have possessed a cell phone and multiple other electronic devices that contained “countless images of child sexual abuse material that he received, downloaded and produced between 2017 and 2021,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The 65-year-old will be sentenced on October 29. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of fifteen years and a maximum sentence of life in federal prison.
After serving his state and federal sentences, Campos-Hurtado will be deported to Mexico as he does not have legal status in the U.S., the attorney’s office notes.
Robert E. McGuire, acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, said at sentencing, he will “seek to guarantee” that Campos-Hurtado “does not have any chance to hurt another child.”
“Campos preyed on children in our community for years, using his position to gain the trust of his victims only to betray them by sexually abusing them. Protecting children in our community and holding child sex offenders to maximum accountability is among the highest priorities of our office and of the Department of Justice,” McGuire added.

Sad for Franklin…..get him out of here. Bend him over, shave his head and send him overseas.
15 years is Nothing. Remove this illegal predator. Immediately. Tennessee is not safe.
