Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor hired by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) who is also alleged to be her romantic partner, reported in invoices submitted to Willis’ office that he met with representatives from the Biden administration twice. The filing also reveals Wade visited Washington, D.C. a third time for unclear, work-related purposes, and may have conferenced with the January 6 Committee in the U.S. House during a separate work-related trip in Georgia.
Defendant Michael Roman, who is among those indicted by Willis in her election case against former President Donald Trump, alleged in a Monday court filing that Willis is engaged in an inappropriate romantic relationship with Wade (pictured above), who Fulton County taxpayers have compensated nearly $654,000.
Among the documents included in Roman’s filing are invoices and credit card statements, provided by Wade to Willis’ office, which give new details about interactions between Willis’ office in Fulton County and the White House.
In May 2022, Wade wrote in his invoice that Willis’ office owed him compensation for eight hours of work. Those eight hours, according to Wade, consisted of “Travel to Athens” and “Conf with White House Counsel.”
A similar entry exists on his November 2022 invoice, when Wade requested compensation for another eight hours of work, which Wade labeled, “Interview with DC/White House.”
In addition to these two entries, Wade included in his invoice for April 2022 a request to be compensated $757.20 for plane tickets purchased on April 23. The printed credit card history included by Wade reveals purchases at two Washington, D.C. restaurants that are both located within 15 minutes of the White House.
One of the restaurants Wade dined at during his trip is located in the same building complex as a Hyatt hotel. Wade requested to be compensated $719.34 for his stay at an unspecified Hyatt Place hotel in his April 2022 invoice. Reflecting the travel in his invoice, Wade charged for 16 hours of work for “Travel out of state; Interview and Research” on April 27 but provided no additional details.
A website that tracks President Joe Biden’s official schedule using updates provided by the White House shows Biden returned to Washington, D.C., on April 24, 2022, and remained in the city until May 1.
In another unexplained billing, the next month, Wade billed Fulton County for eight hours of work, which the private defense attorney labeled, “Team meeting; Conf w/Jan 6; SPGJ witness prep.” Though Wade did not clarify, it appears SPGJ is an abbreviation for the special purpose grand jury summoned by Willis to consider indicting Trump.
Wade offered no clarification for what his apparent “Jan 6” conference entailed, but Willis was accused of colluding with the January 6 Committee by Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) last month.
As part of his probe investigating possible coordination between the prosecutors investigating the former president, Jordan in a December letter revealed Congress “learned that your office also coordinated its investigative actions with the partisan” January 6 Committee and requested “documents related to the investigative coordination between your office” and the committee.
Jordan requested Willis provide the information he requested by December 19.
