Authorities have charged a man with the murder of Detroit synagogue President Samantha Woll, who was found stabbed to death on Oct. 21 outside of her home.
Detroit man Michael Jackson-Bolanos (pictured above) was charged with Woll’s murder, along with counts of lying to the police and home invasion, the Associated Press reported. Detroit police announced they had arrested a person of interest in the case earlier this week, though it remains unclear whether Brown was that individual.
In early November, police arrested a different suspect, whom they released days later after 72 hours of questioning. There exists, thus far, no evidence to suggest that Woll’s killing was antisemitic in its motivation, prosecutor Kym Worthy said.
“There are no facts to suggest this defendant knew Ms. Woll,” Attorney Brian Brown, who is defending Jackson-Bolanos, said.
On the night of her death, Woll attended a wedding and authorities believe she was stabbed inside her home, hence, the home invasion charge.
