The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) Tuesday announced the arrest of a man with a lengthy criminal history after he left his wallet at the scene of an alleged kidnapping.
According to an MNPD press release, convicted felon Jaymes Greer, 24, was arrested by local authorities for the kidnapping and assault of a female acquaintance after an attentive gas station employee witnessed the alleged crimes and found that Greer had dropped his wallet in the parking lot.
“Greer entered the gas station requesting the [sic] use the clerk’s phone before he left and entered a white Toyota Camry in the parking lot with a female inside. The clerk observed a physical altercation between the two before the Camry sped off,” the release says. “The clerk told officers Greer was armed and recovered his wallet in the parking lot which aided in identifying him. Officers confirmed Greer had outstanding warrants.”
Officers quickly learned that Greer had outstanding warrants for domestic assault and a felony probation violation.
The victim’s family was tracking her location, helping the police department track her and Greer down. Greer fled on foot when confronted by police.
His victim was severely injured, and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with extensive injuries to her face, including several broken bones and missing teeth.”
Greer, who has an extensive criminal record dating back to his childhood, has been charged with especially aggravated kidnapping, evading arrest, and two counts of felony weapon possession. His bond has been set at $122,500.
According to court records, he was charged with felony possession of a firearm in 2013 when he was only 12 years old.
In 2017, he was charged with felon in possession of a firearm and with two counts of aggravated robbery in 2019, also a felony.
According to the same court records, Greer has been charged with 29 misdemeanors dating back to 2017.
