Woman Arrested in Memphis after Allegedly Punching Nurse at Methodist South Hospital for Being White

A 26-year old black woman wanted on a warrant for carjacking was arrested on Christmas Eve for allegedly sucker-punching a nurse while she was being treated at Methodist South Hospital in Memphis.

Dashawna Sharneice Williams, according to police information obtained by Memphis outlet WREG, was being treated at the hospital on Christmas Eve night when she allegedly punched a nurse practitioner in the face with a closed fist.

The outlet further reported that Williams allegedly punched the Caucasian nurse because of her race.

Court papers obtained by media personality Kevin Steele said Williams allegedly punched the white nurse in the face after exclaiming how she didn’t want to be treated “by a white person.”

WREG said Williams has since been diagnosed with “mental health conditions” and was treated on the scene by Memphis Police Department Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) officers.

CIT officers, according to MPD, are trained to “offer a more humane and calm approach” in incidents involving individuals with mental health disorders.

Williams’ arrest comes as she was also wanted on a warrant issued December 4 for a carjacking incident that took place in November of 2023, WREG notes.

Court records obtained by the outlet show that on November 13, 2023, Williams allegedly walked up to a man sitting in a Nissan Altima outside a convenience store in Memphis, signaled as if she were carrying a firearm, and drove off in the vehicle.

While Williams was arrested at the time for the incident, court records further showed that the charges of carjacking and employment of a firearm in a felony were “dismissed for lack of prosecution.”

Williams is currently booked at the Shelby County Sheriff Office Jail East facility on a $50,500 bond on the carjacking warrant and last week’s assault charge.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, January 7 at 9:00 a.m.

While the Federal Bureau of Investigation defines a hate crime as a “criminal offense against a person or property motivated in whole or in part by an offender’s bias against a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity,” Williams has not been charged with a hate crime for the Christmas Eve incident.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s 2023 Hate Crime annual report shows that a total of 32 “Anti-White” hate crimes were recorded in the state during 2021-2023, with two of the incidents in 2023 being labeled as “Intimidation” and reported in Memphis.

One year old warrant. Apparently MPD doesn’t have a very active warrant squad.

  2. Dr Ken

Charge her with a hate crime, that is the only way this divisive nonsense will stop.

  3. If the “roles” were reversed, this would be a national story, protests in the streets, and knowing Memphis, sporadic rioting, just because.

  4. Tennessee Budd

Of course she hasn’t been charged with a hate crime. White people are fair game, or so it would seem.

This kind of racist behavior is not conducive to a civil society. Shame on you.

  6. Randy

Crime is rampant in Memphis. If you can allegedly brandish a weapon steal a car and not be prosecuted you and the people responsible for prosecuting you must like crime. Why would you release a violent criminal back onto the streets n bail?

Thug Dashawna needs lots of jail time and daily anti racist classes by a white teacher
