Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley warned individuals crossing county lines to commit crimes, saying such actions will not be tolerated.
“I will say this again, if you bring it to us we are going to bring it back at you! If you think we are going to let you run back to Memphis, or anywhere else, without any consequences…you’ve got us confused,” Beasley (pictured above) said in a Facebook post last week.
“You may walk out of jail in other areas without posting bond but I promise you, you will NOT walk away from here without sitting in our “five star” facility and thinking about what stupid choices you made,” Beasley continued, adding, “If you have the time to kill sitting in jail, I got just the place for you.”
“We may not catch you every time but if you keep messing around…your luck will run out,” Beasley said.
Tipton County neighbors Shelby County to the north.
Beasley’s post responded to a recent smash-and-grab robbery of the Whiskey Business Liquor Store in Covington.
The Covington Police Department released surveillance video of the robbery, which showed five thieves with covered faces and dressed in dark clothing busting through the window of the store on Highway 51 with a sledgehammer and stealing thousands of dollars worth of liquor.
The robbery took place on August 12.
So far, two out of the five suspects involved in the robbery remain at large. The three suspects who were captured by police all reside in Memphis.
Beasley’s promise of consequences for criminals in Tipton County, including posting bond, comes as Shelby County has adopted a new “bail reform program.”
The program, implemented earlier this year, guarantees defendants a bail hearing within 72 hours of arrest. In addition, the bail program is based on a person’s ability to pay, examined and determined by judicial commissioners.

Yes! Support law enforcement. The only way this on going leftist anarchy will cease is to appropriately fund law enforcement, As important, DAs need to fully prosecute criminals. DAs who fail fulfill the duties of their office due to personally held woke ideologies need to be replaced. Judges too, need to set aside political leanings and objectively met out punishments as outlined in prevailing law. This nonsense needs to end now.
